UM-Bot Posted October 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2014 The Rosetta probe has captured images of a pyramid-shaped rock that has been nicknamed 'Cheops'. Since arriving at comet 67P back in August, the European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft has been taking large numbers of photographs in an effort to capture every minor detail of the unexplored body around which it now orbits. qxcontinuum Posted October 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2014 like you need a serious imagination to see that stone as a pyramid

Taun Posted October 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 17, 2014 The shadow is almost, sort of, shaped somewhat like a pyramid... But a squareish object will cast a similar shadow...
Four Winds Posted October 17, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Sad that they stoop so low to say "pyramid" just to generate traffic.
scorpiosonic Posted October 17, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) Is this the same pyramid as...this one? Also on a comet http://www.unexplain.... on comet&st=0 . Yes, there was also a 'pyramid' photographed on the asteroid RQ36, and my theory was, (and is here) that the 'structure' is actually a large half-buried diamond....only 4 of the 8 sides of diamond crystal are visible. (The foolishness continues. ) Edited October 17, 2014 by scorpiosonic
paperdyer Posted October 17, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 17, 2014 If you use enough imagination you can talk yourself into see the one point as a top of a pyramid. I also saw a face and a mesa or volcano-like formation as well.

Ralaman Posted October 17, 2014 #16 Share Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) It very could be a lost temple dedicated to an ancient alien race that travels the Galaxy preaching Universal peace through crack-pot white chicks with a morbid fascination for cats...... +DieChecker Posted October 18, 2014 #17 Share Posted October 18, 2014 Reading the linked article... which obviously not everyone did... The boulder is called Cheops, and it is ESA that called it pyramid shaped, not some internet yahoo. Myself, I don't see the pyramid of it. But, I'm sure ESA has photos of it from hundreds of different angles, and we have one. It seems to me though that there are dozens of boulders like this, and the one showing the surrounding area seems to show other boulders with the same pointed shadow, so.... Here it is almost directly in the middle...
