Can Movies influence dreams?

Recommended Posts

Hi there.

I seem to be having these dreams quite frequently where I watch a movie and then go to sleep and dream that I am in a vague representation of that movie. I have had dreams similar to Jurassic Park and one where I was a Clone Trooper out of Star Wars of all things. I would like to know if anyone else has similar dreams and whether or not this is a normal part of sleep.

Could some one also tell me if this thread has already been posted but is way back in the forum.

Thanks,

MichaelW

Of course it's normal. Do you not understand how dreaming works? Basically, when your conscious mind goes to rest, your sub-conscious takes over. And the sub-conscious takes whatever it remembers from the day (conscious and sub-conscious)you had, and spits it out in your dreams. Very normal. I used to watch Murder She Wrote with my parents when I was really young, and have nightmares where Angela Lansbury would come to my bed and bite me like a vampire.

Yep.

Sometimes I watch movies before bed with the express intention that my dreams will reflect them.

Got to hang with the Rat Pack once, it was sweet.

Oh absolutely.

Infact not only movies, but music too. I feel asleep the other day when Snoopy v. The Red Baron was on the radio

and I dreamt that Snoopy was an actual war hero and I was stuck in the trenches of WWI with him..... it was

very graphic... :unsure2:

A fun part is waking up from a dream and your TV is on with some show about what you were dreaming about.

I dream about movies I've just seen...all the time! One I remember off the top of my head- was Iron Monkey 2! I dreamt I had all these crazy superpowers and mad fighting skills.

I also dream about a book I've just read. Sometimes, in both situations, it feels like I'm dreaming about it all night long!

Im sure I have done the same thing in the past. I know I have done it in regards to things I've thought about the day before going to sleep, but specific movies aren't coming to mind right now.
