Hairy Blob “Creature” Appears in NY street

Still Waters

Recommended Posts

What’s big, fuzzy, and mysteriously appears after a torrential rain? Don’t know? Neither do residents of New York’s Carroll Gardens, who are scratching their heads trying to figure out just what the bizarre thing is, and where it came from.

I used to feed my fish and amphibians those. I have never seen a ball that large though. Maybe a quarter of that size. They should get that ball back down into the sewers though. It is just good ecology... :sk

edit: I see it slithered down on its' own...haha

The hairy blob was discovered on Friday by creeped out pedestrians on Court St. who said the unexplained “creature” smelled like a sea-animal. Photographer Keith Thompson realized that the hairball’s sudden appearance was stirring up some weird conversation among the locals, and wisely rushed out to snap a few shots before it disappeared.

Disappeared ? to where .... ?

I don;t see a sewer drain hole anywhere in the photos //

If those appeared in my city they'd very soon be disappearing into a big soup pot!

s, and wisely rushed out to snap a few shots before it disappeared.

I don't think this means the thing actually vanished in front of him.

I think he means he wanted to take pics of it before it disappeared by being picked up, cleaned up, carted away.

I can imagine people's faces if someone snuck up and wrapped a bit of it around their arm and start screaming "OMG IT'S EATING ME!!!!" I'm so morbid I know lol.

Here is some footage of another tubifex colony:

I dunno, Dan'O; that looks like some old footage of somebody's colonoscopy. As for hairball, it seems to resemble nothing as much as "Cousin It" from the Addams Family TV show.

Looks like a constuction barrier they put in front of the storm drains to keep debri out of the sewer. some look like rolled up rugs and some like hay bales. water can pass though the brissels but debri cannot.
