can't decide

Posted by , 13 January 2005 · 33 views

I'm having a silly little problem.  I was asked out casually today by this new sports writer at my work.  I'm always up to hanging out with new people and he seems pretty nice, so said "Sure".  It was just to meet up at a show tonight at 9pm (Steve Miller, formally of V-Roys; good country-rock-folky music).  Problem is I REALLY don't want to go now.  It's cold and pouring rain and it's quite a drive to downtown from where I live.  I'm still not feeling good, either.

(as an aside, I hate this "sick enough to feel crappy, well enough to go to work" funk I'm in)

But I don't have his number to cancel!  He says some of his friends will be there, so I know it won't just be him hanging out alone or anything... but it's just horribly rude to NOT SHOW.  Although it wasn't a super-duper "the only reason I'm going to is to see you" sort of thing either.  Ugh...

I hope he won't take it personally.  He seems really nice, but I just want to drink some Thera-Flu and go to sleep.

I am an awful person.  sad.gif

If he's really a nice guy, he'll understand if you just go right up to him first thing in the morning and apologize and explain. Don't avoid him because you're embarassed or worried you'll hurt his feelings, that'll just make him think that you're trying to come up with a good excuse for not showing. wink2.gif

Just be honest and that'll be that.

Now go sleep. tongue.gif

Great advice.  Honesty never hurts in situations like this.  Thanks, Dis. original.gif  You're my "witness" that I really wasn't feeling good!  laugh.gif

As a self proclaimed male..... I happen to agree with Dis.   Not saying Dis is a male, that is not the point I am aiming for....

Hes a sports writer, so maybe tell him you got attacked by a basketballer...... That he's sure to understand wink2.gif

So Jenn, did you talk to him? Was he understanding? I bet you were worried for nothing. wink2.gif

Actually he didn't come to work today.  Maybe the concert was more fun than he could take. laugh.gif  I did email him and apologize/explain.

....seems I've hit on this a little too late.  And I had an awesome cover story for you, involving ninjas, international intrigue, and a fifty foot robot Tyrannosaurus...

Just Like...

Sweet Melinda
The peasants call her the goddess of gloom
She speaks good English
And she invites you up into her room
And you're so kind
And careful not to go to her too soon
And she takes your voice
And leaves you howling at the moon

We've got Armadillos in our trousers.

We choose a thing because it just happened to be beneath our noses at that moment in time. It is not necessarily what we want, but it is interesting, and the longer we gaze at it, the more compelling it becomes.

It takes spirit, will, and soulfulness and it often means holding out for what one wants.
