why is sex such a subject that is scorned? hidden like a secret or avoid like taboo, when talked of. most people hide their sexual orientation and desires for others. sex happens in most places with most people, yes it happens, so why deny it? has religion made it seem wrong? are people embarrassed by truth? the stigma of homosexuality and bisexual persons, discrimination is wrong. say what ye think, of this controversial and delicate subject...

IMO, from peoples old views that are still carried over in todays world. Although views change, in some places it was pretty common and not looked down upon that much. Religion did play a part though (especially the judaeo christian one).

Were animals, yet no one complains about the other animals on the earth having sex. Its such a primal thing, and a human right basically. I get annoyed too when people claim it bad, tabboo etc.

Actually I don't think sex is such a Taboo subject any more, I find religion to be of a more Taboo subject as people get more uppity and offended when it comes to religion than anyone does about sex.

How can it be a human right to have sexual intercourse?

If you are a man in your best years, you can fertilize hundreds of women each week, if you go at it.

No, the problem is that humans have a far to high sex-drive; a couple of times each year suffice to procreate.

The function of sex is reproduction, so since you are mentioning such things as sexual orientation I assume you mean recreational sex? In my opinion, and I'm possibly more guilty of this than most, sex has become too big of a subject, as if it is the be all end all of life. Too much importance is placed on it. There are much more important aspects to life than sticking your parts into someone elses parts. One time I was riding the bus downtown and this guy sits next to me with a bunch of literature on aids. He tells me that he has aids and then proceeds to go on a big rant about his sexuality and the gay porn web site that he is setting up. As I sit there politley nodding my head all I can wonder is that even after the pursuit of sexual pleasure has given him a disease which in a short time shall mean the end of his life, all he can focus on is his sexuality. At what point does the realization come that there must be things in life more important than the nice feelings one gets from the sex act and it is now time to focus on those before you have wasted your entire life on them?

I don't mean to be a damp rag but sex has taken on much more importance than it deserves, to the detriment of society and individuals.

Are you saying sex is still a taboo subject?

They're talking about it every day on Daytime TV. It's somewhere in the pages of most newspapers and magazines. It's a part of most movies and dramas.

The phrase "sex sells" didn't just appear for no reason and porn isn't the king of the internet for no reason.

As the father of daughters I know that if you pick up a magazine for young teen girls, you'll find it's pages full of "relationship advice"

Taboo? Yeah, right.

Because were animals. Animals have sex. To reproduce, or just because we want to.

I wasnt talking about fertilization though, that was you.

A couple of times a year isnt right. Theres no limit to the amount of time you can have sex, and putting a cap on it is giving into the old and bad ideas about it being tabboo, and also on such a High Pedastal, when its such a basic primal thing.

I'm with Chaos and Eldorado on this one. Sex isn't a taboo subject anymore. It's everywhere.

But really... the vast majority of people have sex in privacy, right? Which I think is a good thing because I really don't wanna see people going at it in the supermarket or at the bus stop. So, if the act is done in private, why not talk about it in private too? It has nothing to do with shame or "evilness."

No, I do not agree.

Animals need to have a sex drive in order to procreate. No two cats would hump each other if they had no sex-drive, and if they had none, the animals would die out. Humans have a very high sex-drive, and need to control it, this can very easily be done by abstinence.

Talking about sex as a human right is to me just as bad as spreading a religious idea, it's disinformation, serving a cause that you believe in or believe you like.

why do you relate sex with reproducing? .. I mean.. I know that you can reproduce if you have sex :geek: ..but when I have sex I'm not looking to get pregnant? !..that is why condoms exsist in the first place and no... why would a couple of times be ok?... its about having pleasure and enjoying.. heck! if my B/F were to say to me 'just a couple of times' I would go mad! :w00t:

lady gaga (being a production of the illuminati) is telling people to be deeply involved in hetrosexual, bisexual and homosexual sex, fashion and music. I believe this kind of brainwashing behaviour is terrible, and not only lady gaga is trying to hypnotise people into sexual zombies. she may have a good voice, but we must ignore her influence. lady gaga is a puppet of the illuminati, as a campaign to make people stupid sex slaves...

Well, no. There is no need for sex control.

Its a basic, primative desire, that shouldnt be hindered by anyones beliefs.

Its not disinformation, its fact. Its like telling someone talking is bad, and like spreading a religious agenda (which makes no sense). Do you tell people you can only talk sometimes? And have to control it?

Mulder this wasnt to you actually.. my bad!

No worries. Fortunately i read this post first

Its all good.

Totally agree with you but i think you should specify that there is no need for control of safe sex. I think we can all agree that uncontrolled, unprotected sex is a bad thing.

Maybe you were hitting on my post there. I say, take your mind of a it, take to some creative interests. Sex can for sure be a created addiction; like a poker, a stroker, a killer, a driller...

Well, unprotected, yes. I agree, and should have added that.
