As a child, I had a talking crow that recognized us, calld us by name, said, "I love you" and "So what?" when it was in trouble for things like taking the clothes pins off the line so the laundry fell in the dirt. It flew free all day and roosted in the basement at night. At daybreak it would yell, "Ella, it's 12 o'clock!" It tormented our grey fox by pulling its tail-- and vice versa, until the crow had no tail feathers.
