Based on a book. I heard an interview with the author on Friday and was under the impression that it was 2% of the world's population, not half.

my expectations are pretty low right now. maybe i'm just getting tired of these big "event" shows.

I saw the first episode and although I like these kind of shows (looks pretty interesting) history has shown me that they almost ALWAYS are a let-down. To big of a mystery makes it impossible to explain in the end. Like Lost and Under the Dome and the likes..... Im guessing this one never goes beyond first season.
