HELLO!

Urban Explorer 2112

HOLA!?!?!?

My name is Matt, you don't need to know my last name. I live in Decatur, AL, which is adjacent to Cullman, AL, and Huntsville, AL. I am a photographer and urban explorer, and I am looking for abandoned places, i.e., mills, factories, warehouses, apartment buildings, hospitals, train depots, etc., to explore and photograph. If they're haunted as well, then it's a plus. In Huntsville, I know Huntsville Cotton Row, Chase Nursery, and the Southwest Huntsville Airport are abandoned, but that's the only ones I know about. I also know in my neck of the woods, Lacon, AL is also abandoned. Well, not the entire part. There is a West Lacon, AL located one mile from the original site of the town, but the original town has been abandoned since the 70's.

So, anyway, if anyone in the area from Cullman to Huntsville, AL, knows of any good places to go exploring and photographing, please let me know;

it will be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I also need proof it's abandoned. I don't want to go explore it only to be met by the owner with a 12 Gauge and a bad attitude.

Hello. I like photos of abandoned buildings so if you already have images you want to share then get uploading in the gallery if you want. Just a word of caution, some of those places are abandoned for a reason. For example they may contain toxic molds or asbestos etc. Also many have been left to rot in the environment so there is the possibility of floors collapsing whilst you are standing on them. They could be home to dangerous creatures including the most dangerous of all... Humans.

So be careful and take a friend/friends and make sure people know where you are going and when you are expecting to be back.

Looks forward to seeing some photos.

Wow, I love abandon buildings, even abandon houses myself! Looking forward to seeing your photos as well! :)

Haven't been to any abandon places yet, but I'm constantly looking up photo's online. Hope you enjoy your time on here.

Thank you for the welcomes.

And yes, bulvey, I know all the dangers involved. I carry a .357 snubnose in case of junkies/gangs. I also take caution to wear a respirator in buildings known for having asbestos. I haven't starting photographing them yet, as it's a rule of thumb in urban exploration to check out the surroundings first and become familiar with the area. I even have pitfalls marked and so on. Also, I work for the city of Huntsville, so I also make it a point to have my city id on me as well. And my wife's cousin and his friends usually go with me. They think it's cool and I'm teaching them the basics and the ins and outs.

Anyhow, thanks for the welcome and the concern for my safety. I hope to post pics soon.

Well howdy and welcome to UM!...

I used to live in Hunstville (stationed at Redstone Arsenal) but that was many years ago, so any place I knew would either be off limits or no longer there...

Hello Matt,

I used to play (many moons ago) on some old grounds near Millwall which had an abandoned bottle factory, its all gone now, so not much help to you there, but the memories are great.

Good luck and would love to see any photos you get.

Welcome to UM.
