Anomalocaris Posted October 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2015 But James Cameron isn't directing... Twentieth Century Fox and producers James Cameron and Jon Landau are in talks with Robert Rodriguez to direct Alita: Battle Angel, the live-action adaptation of the graphic novel series Battle Angel Alita by Yukito Kishiro: “Robert and I have been looking for a film to do together for years, so I was pumped when he said he wanted to do Battle Angel,” James Cameron said in a press release. “He’s very collaborative and we’re already like two kids building a go-kart, just having fun riffing creatively and technically. This project is near and dear to me, and there’s nobody I trust more than Robert, with his technical virtuosity and rebel style, to take over the directing reins. We’re looking forward to learning a lot from each other while we make a kick-ass epic.” Read more

Frankly, I'm not very happy with the new director (though, I've only seen Sin City and Predators). But if the movie manages to be successful, other dead adaptations, such as Bubblegum Crisis or Akira, could revive. Well, it happened with the Kaijus and Dinosaurs (probably because of Godzilla and Jurassic World), so who knows. Sir Wearer of Hats Posted October 19, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Though not an anime / manga, it's fate was not so different... My parents prefer that film to the cartoon. I have, as you'd expect, disowned them.
