I haven't seen anything on this aspect of firearms but it is a monkey wrench in the President's agenda and 23EOs.  These clips are proof positive that gun control will not prevent the next Sandy Hook.  It has to be a given that this Administration knows this and this whole dog and pony show is not being pushed to protect our children but a play to makes us all wards of the state.  The following is but a wide-ranging taste of what you can find.  The plastic used in 3D printing is still developing so you'll find AR15s that malfunction after a few rounds and others that last for several hundred.  But this is something that the government cannot regulate.

Was flying to Houston yesterday and thumbing through the latest riveting issue of Sky Mall and saw a 3D printer for $1,200.  The tech is coming and it has implications well beyond guns and whatnot.

So what, ban plans, ban printers, ban the materials needed to make stuff......well let me throw this out.  I work at a leading engineering school and one of our students BUILT a 3D printer in his dorm room out of left over parts from a class project.

How does one control that?

What do you bet they make the printers illegal.

You have the right to bear arms but not a printer.

Now if we can just get those printers to make the ammo to load them.

I'm tired of seeing all of the empty ammo shelves at my local Walmarts and sporting good stores.

He got his 3D printer confiscated and most 3D printing is now held under patent. So much for innovation.

sounds interesting, but do we really need it??? with enough demand underground factories making guns (untracable psbly not safe to the shooter and ppl around him\her)will be popping up around the world, just like drug labs. and be smuggled in any part of the world just like drugs are. anyone saw a documentary on pakistans tribal region gun market?? ppl in the caves make exact copies of any gun, using basic machinery, their market is flooded with cave made guns. imagine what a person in his garage can do using cnc machines.

and the laws regarding 3d printers, lol, they will stop it as much as current patents and copyrights stop china from flooding the world with fake goods

That's right.  Or just regulate the materials that can be used by the printers to make the guns.

Ravenhawk, of course they can regulate this.  They think they can regulate anything they want to, and do.

I just finished watching Gladiator (aka: remake of The Fall of the Roman Empire).  It is a great analogy to what is happening today in this country.  With that said, it is clear who Commodus is but who is Maximus/Livius?  I guess this is proof that there is no such thing as the White Knight.

You are Machiavellian to my eye, Ravenhawk.   I suppose a bit Roman as well.

A philosophical question for you:  Do you support the US dominating the world or parts of the world with military force to influence/change the policies of certain foreign countries?

Depends on your definition of “Machiavellian”??  There’s the tactic of dealing with affairs of state and there’s the form of detachment and Narcissism.  Now I believe in using it as a form of foreign diplomacy and if you don’t then you’re a fool.  But the form of detachment, I leave to you and Obama.  America is Roman (pre Caesar period).  Although it is becoming more obvious that we are now in the Caesar period.  The Constitution is a direct descendant of the Twelve Tables.  America continues the original idea of Rome.  If we fall, another nation will rise to shake off the shackles of Socialism and enslavemnet.  And its government will be based on the Constitution, the Magna Carta, the Twelve Tables all based on the work of Solon.

We are a warrior people.  By birthright, we should dominate the world and we have.  American Hegemony has brought relative peace and prosperity for the last 70 years or so for the entire world.  It is our time in the sun to make a mark on the world.  As a Republic, this nation is currently benevolent enough to meet the responsibility.  The government needs to leave the people alone and worry about foreign powers.  Military action is not the only form of influence but influence should be the weapon we wield.  Economic, diplomatic as well as military are all part of the toolbox.  Just us being ourselves is influence, i.e. through pop culture.  How much of the world wears blue jeans and knows the phase “I’ll be back” or “Where’s the beef”?

And no, this is not some kind of strange welfare as you put it.
