Greek police appeal over mystery blonde girl

Greek police are trying to discover the identity of a young blonde girl who was found living on a Roma settlement with a family she did not resemble.

DNA tests revealed the child, called Maria and aged about four, was not related to the couple she lived with.

The little girl is now being looked after by a charity. Her photo has been released to help find her family.

I was reading about this yesterday. Made me think of Madeline McCann.

Saw this in the local paper, what is frightening is to think that she was actually abducted and not sold to them!

This could go one of two ways:

the family are absolutely thrilled that their missing daughter has now been found

or

This is the last thing they wanted.

from the article

"The girl might have been abducted from a hospital, or given up by an unmarried mother," the officer said

The couple had registered different numbers of children with different regional family registries.

The woman claimed to have given birth to six children within a 10-month period.

And what if she were given up my an unmarried mother or sold to the gypsies, what happens to the child then and what happens to the parents if they find them?

And what of the other children? are they doing DNA tests on all the children in the camp?

I sure do hope this turns out well for the child and the "hopefully" parents who have been missing their child.

Video interview with relatives of the abductors. Apparently this criminal family doesn't believe it did anything wrong.

Yeah, all those old stereotypes and stories parents used to tell their children about being good or the Gypsies will get you ........

What's the bet the family in question will run crying to the HRC about their racist abuse of their culture?

I remember a similar case back in bosnia in the late 80's. A young blonde blue eyed boy bagging on streets with other romas. His face was badly burned. Turnd out he was abducted from a bosnian family years before and noone could find him. The roma burnd his face. Abduction by romas was quiet a regular thing.

Sad story. Hope the authorities find the truth about the little girl. At least she is safe now.

I wouldn't be surprised if she is a victim of the Albanian child trafficking trade. It is rife and a growing number of parents are actually renting their children out to be used for various unsavoury purposes.

Might explain why the parents haven't come forward.

A happy outcome has already started, she is removed from the scum and their scratty lifestyle, her life can only get better from now on.

Individuals like them have no posititve input to any society. They have also found stolen goods and firearms in their possession.

I thought this was interesting....

Since receiving her, the charity’s director has painted an idyllic image of the life she now leads compared with what he says was the environment of neglect she experienced under her supposed Roma parents.

“She’s happy because probably for the first time she’s got the care and tenderness that a child needs in this age. She has toys to play with and people to take care for her,” says Costas Yannopoulos of Smile of the Child. But when pressed if evidence exists that she was mistreated by her purported parents, Yannopoulos avoids going into detail, saying that his charity has received reports of sightings and photographs, which he says he has passed on to the police, of Maria being “exposed to begging” in various parts of Greece.

After her Roma relatives released videos of the girl dancing at community festivals and ceremonies, in a way that children of her age in Greece and elsewhere are prone to do, Yannopoulos, in comments to the Daily Mail, interpreted the footage as showing “her dancing, going round and round like a little trained bear” for money.

Ah.... taken from the clutches of rustic anarchists and placed into the warm loving arms of lifelong socialism. :passifier:

I do wish the press would drop the McCann case as a similarity. There is no evidence this little girl has been abducted from a holidaying family or at the moment an abduction at all. This little girl needs to have her parents identified and not this situation hijacked by a popular UK press magnet.
