MedicTJ Posted December 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2004 If this should go in another forum, then I apologize beforehand. This is a simple question. Just one I want to know. I became a late fan of the X-Files. After they were all done and made, I started watching them in syndication runs on channels like TNT. What I want to know is if there is an actual "X-Files" unit in the FBI?

MedicTJ Posted December 7, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted December 7, 2004 LOL!!!!!!! I love that show, though. That would have to be the coolest job in the world if it were real.
Chris_com28 Posted December 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 8, 2004 Well I don't think there is or was such a general term but there were and amybe still are groups that investigate UFOs. One such group that has been made public is Operation Blue Book. They investigated for about 10 years I think and compiled a hug record of reports. However they concluded that reports are no current threat to security. People claim that they biased the report by only mentioning the easily explained reports and not mentioning any of the other ones. Also the conclusion can be kind of misleading. They could have found alien life in the reports but interpreted it as non-threatening. There was also a British group that investigated UFOs an the documentary actually called them "the real Men In Black". They kept their data in room 801 of a hotel or something I think. I'm not sure about other paranormal phenomena. There probablly is reason to bleeive their is some kind of government involvement with some cryptoanimals but I can't remember why. It would probablly be a good idea to have such groups though. I've read of quite a few strange report that I feel belong more in the X-files than reality. Asterix Posted December 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted December 8, 2004 That would have to be the coolest job in the world if it were real. 390051 I disagree. In real life, a group like this would have actually a quite boring task of classifying, categorizing, discard or accept, millions of photos, documents, reports. Most of the work would be just reading papers and watching photos..
lego jedi Posted December 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 8, 2004 but if your assistant was a hottie .... as in the x-files you may find a way to while away those late evening photo sessions...
The Caspian Hare Posted December 8, 2004 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2004 The FBI is interested in federal crimes, not aliens and monsters and psychic powers. Various local police departments have used self-proclaimed psychics in an attempt to solve crimes, with varying degrees of success. There was a CIA program that investigated the possibility of using psychics in intelligence gathering(apparently they didn't find "psychics" useful because the program was abandoned). And then there was the Air Force's Project Blue Book that investigated a possible threat from UFO's. The Soviets had a program investigating UFO's too. Athenian Posted December 8, 2004 #8 Share Posted December 8, 2004 Bah, What an aweful job! Getting killed many times and coming back to life... Getting shot at constantly... Always getting injected with implants or drugs... Chasing after all sorts of paranormal ugly weirdos from Mars and abandoned Laboratories through dark forests and buildings... Who would want such a gloomy life?
cyberdoll Posted December 9, 2004 #9 Share Posted December 9, 2004 I don't think that would fall under the FBI however of course they have files like that. I don't know if they're called "x-files" but I'm quite certain they have a file on all paranormal/supernatural/ufo/crime/missing person/etc. events reported, whether they choose to believe them or not. Dando Kast Posted December 9, 2004 #11 Share Posted December 9, 2004 Has anyone ever seen Psi factor?.... I think that show did a good job of how paranormal activity is studied... and all the shows are apparently based on true accounts.
RelicHunter Posted December 12, 2004 #12 Share Posted December 12, 2004 If there was/is I'm pretty sure the public would NEVER know about it.
pallidin Posted December 13, 2004 #13 Share Posted December 13, 2004 Has anyone ever seen Psi factor?.... I think that show did a good job of how paranormal activity is studied... and all the shows are apparently based on true accounts. 395008 Some years ago, before the PSI Factor, I saw on TV a "documentary" of a haunting invesitigation done by the same real-life group, OSI, with Dr. Chicon from that group. Though most if not all of the stories on PSI Factor came from OSI, I seriously doubt that any of them were point-to-point factual. I would suppose that much was dramatized and otherwise exploited for viewer pleasure.
