joshsluss Posted March 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2010 Let me begin by saying I have my doubts about this healthcare overhaul as I'm sure many conservatives do. However, being 24 and starting an entry level job in the career field I chose, I can't afford healthcare and I do have a pre existing condition. I've had the opportunity to listen to Limbaugh and Beck over the last 5 months at work on a commercial job we are working on and have listened to them enough that I know the point they are trying to get at. Unfortunately, that point is fear, and only fear. I have heard so many fear tactics that I myself started to buy into them. It was only until about a month ago that I realized these guys forget what country we live in. We live in a country where the people have the power, not the other way around. I believe in a smaller gov't but a gov't thats FOR the people. This healthcare overhaul is for me, you and everyone else. Its heart is in the right place. The increasingly radical right is being fueled by these two men, whom just so happen to be former drug addicts and struggle with food. This tells me they might not be the hero's the conservative movement needs to look to. Come on fellow conservatives, we can do better.

If your making over 10 grand a year, you will now be forced to afford it. For the same price you couldnt afford it before this bill. Either that or they will tax/fine you 2.5% of your income, and still wont be able to afford health care. Dont pay that fine/tax and you will be fined between 25,000 and 250,000, and or serve 1 to 5 years in prison. Dont kid yourself, you have no power, nor do they even care what you think. Personaly I think they could have come up with something better. Edited March 23, 2010 by preacherman76
Siara Posted March 23, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 23, 2010 I think this health care bill is going to continue to evolve for decades. It isn't the Declaration of Independence Part II. Once everyone calms down about this and watches it work for a few months, all sorts of adjustments will be made. People will make intelligent changes to achieve the right balance. Last year American incomes stayed the same and health insurance went up 8%. I think we all agree that's not the right balance. I am especially glad that the parents of kids with birth defects, etc. will have a bit of pressure taken off them. Having a special needs kid shouldn't destroy a family. My friend whose daughter is seriously autistic told me that the divorce rate for couples in that situation is 80%. That's awful. This plan is very similar to the plan that Mitt Romney proposed. I realize that Romney is too far left for some folks here but realistically he's a moderate.

If you think he should be covered by a government program then... he is depending on the government for his health care.

conspiracybeliever Posted March 23, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2010 It was signed into law today Siara. It is what it is. Laws are changed or amendments made to them every day. It will work out. It has to now.
