John Titor

Recommended Posts

I have posted this in another thread , but seeing as a little interest was shown on the subject I thought I would put it up as a topic of it's own ...

Well basically I was haniging around looking for something to do during the recent down time experienced by the board when I found a story on one of our links about a man called John Titior who claimed to be a soldier from the year 2036 who has been posting about his experiences in paranormal and space related chat rooms . I read through it expecting to find references to "come with me if you want to live " and " I'll be back" but found nothing .

So I decided to run a search and I found transcripts to an IRC chat John Titor had under the name of TimeTraveller00 .. Has anybody actually come across this guy in there travels on the net ?

LINK

here you will find some pictures posted by the man himself of his alleged time machine complete with owners manual ...

is that a delorian ? ohmy.gif

It sounds like the man is either a self-deluded fantasist (like all those vampires out there), or a serious wind-up merchant.

The most amazing aspect of the story is that someone has gone to the trouble of recording what he's been saying on that website. The guy's ego must be huge.

If this guy's really from the future, why's he just hacking around in webforums? Seems he'd be trying to contact people who could actually do something. He's obviously looking for attention, or he wouldn't be posting, why not try getting on the news? Unless he's afraid of being found out as a fraud.

If this guy's really from the future, why's he just hacking around in webforums?  Seems he'd be trying to contact people who could actually do something.  He's obviously looking for attention, or he wouldn't be posting, why not try getting on the news?  Unless he's afraid of being found out as a fraud.

Well, I don't know if you read all the information, but he claims that he wasn't here to get attention of prove anything. He says that all he wanted to do was make conversastion with people that was "in the past", and the reason he went to a paranormal chat/website is because people there woud be more open minded, so he thought. he also says in response to the same question somewhere something along the lines of: "Why do you feel that people from your time have nothing of importance to say to some one from the future?"

He wasn't after attention he claims, and why would he go on the news if he is on a secret time travel mission?? Plus besides going on the news would mean he was going after even more attention.

He said that if people didn't believe him he didn't care, all he wanted to do was try talking to people from this time, and share it with us.

For a time traveller he seems rather dull?? What do you expect them to be like can I ask? I have a friend that I contact over the net that uses the exact kind of typing as him, very formal like, and he is far from dull in anycase. Also on a side note, if he was acting all crazy, then that would seem he would be out for attention. I know aload of people that claim to be crazy when they aren't, all they are after is attention.

Again, he didn't ask anyone to save all his postings on a website, the person that made the site did that at their own free will.

I am not saying he is real, or fake. But I am saying that if this is a hoax its a good one.

Two things I think seem weird however: Why would you name yourself "TimeTraveller00" or whatever in a chat room, if you was one? It seems abit, fishy for some reason. The second thing is, if he just uploaded those pictures of the "time machine" at his own will, then it would seem like he was trying to get people to believe him, by prooving he had pics, it would be like he was after attention. However if people asked for pictures, then he said he had some and shown them, it wouldn't seem as if he was after attention, but was just responding to some ones question.

Okay Benjo, you got me, I didn't read the whole article, and I probably won't. I read just enough of it to get the sense that this is a bunch of bs. I mean, if you're on a top secret mission from the future why would you tell anyone about it. Then again, the best way to hide something is right out in the open, I mean, who's gonna believe him anyway, right? But then he tries posting pictures of some gadgets in his car as "proof", which takes him right back to being fishy. And posting as TimeTraveller00, why not just John or something. sounds like a well orchestrated hoax to me.

Snuffy, your above post is what I have said also. Like I say, there is parts that seem, as we say fishy.

Hmm well I like to remain open minded to this as I'v read quite a bit about this guy now and there seems to be something about him which makes me want to know more. His recorded chat is intresting as he does not come across as an attention seeker as he has no worries if anyone wants to believe him or not..it's more like he's intrested in the people he's talking to. He finds us intresting because we, in his lifetime are responsible for destroying the world as we know it. He answers all the questions set to him by the other users intelligently, without sarcasm and convincingly IMHO. I definetly will be looking out for more info on this guy.

Yes Halo I agree. I want to know more too, it is intresting. Then there are parts that seem, strange.

But I am open to it. I ain't saying it is a hoax , or not one, i remain in the middle. thumbsup.gif

Yes Halo and Benjo,i'm with you two.whether it's a typical hoax or whatever it is but if i was one of the chatters at that time,i'd definitely be convinced by what he's saying. It's just that he's so.....how do you say it,just so.......well prepared?i dunno how do you say it,like what you've stated Halo,he's answering all of the questions so convincingly and just without any hesitation or slight misintepretation on anything. Moreover it,i'm also a strong believer in time-travelling in the future so this is just great. thumbsup.gif

This guy's a phenomenon. Surfed the web intensively and found no proof at all of him being a hoax.

Among others, there is this website about him : http://www.johntitor.com that has recorded some predictions of John.

Somehow, it does give me chills... mellow.gif

Thanks for the link, Phantom. You've helped strengthen my conviction that the man is a very good liar, who revels in an anti-federal US future fantasy.

Listening to the slant in his message is very similar to that anti-US government stuff we've had on the conspiracy pages of late.

Whether this man is just lost permanently to his own fantasies, or whether he's a very clever guy who gets off on yanking people's chains, I don't know. But if he's trying to tell us that twenty years after all our industrial power bases (and the scientists, engineers and databases) are blown away, time travel will be a piece of cake, I'm very very doubtful.

Cufflink, make sure you read all of the posts this guy has made. If he in fact is a liar, he sure has done his homework.

Again, reading it gives me chills... And that, in its own, is an achievement... ph34r.gif

The site Phantom posted was interesting. But I don’t believe he’s a time traveller, more like an obsessive.

Firstly he tells of a military unit, even provides the logo! Do you think that a secret military unit would allow for him to post this information, if they existed? And allow him to even show the manual to this time machine?

Which brings me to another point. You actually seen this machine, the photos posted on Phantoms provided site? It looks to me to be the sort of person that’s fantasized about this for to long, and something’s clicked, and he really does believe he’s from the future! But the machine looks to put together for me, for a 2036 machine that is. And from the diagrams of the machine they look very impressive, until you see the seat he sits in, with stickers explaining what’s what, and little wires! Looks to Junkyard Challenge to me!

To me he’s like the old Dr Who fans you use to get, who even go as far as to build a replica of the Tardis. He’s simply a hamper, sandwiches, cloth, cutlery, drinks, short of a picnic.

And obsessive liars, who become so engrossed in their own lives and little world, can sound convincing, because they honestly do believe it themselves.

Dimensional Warp Generator Needed

by Anonymous

I'm a time traveler stuck here in 2003. Upon arriving here my dimensional warp generator stopped working. I trusted a company here by the name of LLC Lasers to repair my Generation 3 52 4350A watch unit, and they fled on me. I am going to need a new DWG unit, preferably the rechargeable AMD wrist watch model with the GRC79 induction motor, four I80200 warp stabilizers, 512GB of SRAM and the menu driven GUI with front panel XID display. I will take whatever model you have in stock, as long as its received certification for being safe on carbon based life forms.

In terms of payment: I don't have any Galactic Credits left. Payment can be made in platinum gold or 2003 currency upon safe delivery of unit.

INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED EXACTLY:

Please transport unit in either a brown paper bag or box to below coordinates on Wednesday, August 6th at (exactly 5:00 p.m.) Eastern Standard Time on the dot. A few minutes prior will be ok, but it cannot be after. If you miss this timeframe please email me. I will not be there prior to 4:45 p.m. EST, so do not transport before then.

Item is to be delivered at (out of service tennis court) located at: Latitude N 42.47935 & Longitude W 071.17355 and the Elevation is 119.

WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRANSPORT ITEM BY REGULAR MEANS OF TELEPORTATION. THEY ARE MONITORING AND WILL REDIRECT THE SIGNAL!!

I DO NOT CARE HOW YOU HAVE TO GET IT HERE, JUST DO IT IN A WAY THAT NO SPYING EYES WILL POSSIBLY BE ABLE TO REDIRECT THE TRANSFERENCE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU BE ABLE TO MONITOR THE TRANSFER.

HOW ARE YOU GOING TO SEND IT SO THAT THEY CANNOT REDIRECT IT??? If in doubt do not transport actual unit until your method of transfer can be confirmed as a success. You just might need to send a intergalactic courier to deliver item safely to me. If so be VERY careful at how they approach me IN MY WHITE CAR.

The part that gets me is all the knowledge. His explanation of how time travels fundamentals worked made perfect sense to me. As a matter of fact, I'm going to give this information to some teachers I know and see what they have to say about it.

Maybe to you GreyFox, but not to someone well versed in physics. A Dr. Robert Brown pretty much shreads Titor's time travel expertise in this post;

Since he had nothing to say it was dull. And like Snuffy, I did not read the whole thing, and probably won't.  There's enough verbal diarrhea, in some of the threads on this forum.  Being that I think he is probably lying, I find him uncreative.

laugh.gif Verbal diarrhea, yeah I agree with that.

But the point you are missing is, just because he seemed dull and "uncreative" doesn't mean was is a fake?? He might not have any reason to create things and make things up?

Yes he appears to be an hoax. But all I am doing is helping create a discussion. thumbsup.gif

Hmmm I'v read the link MM gave and it seems this discussion could go on and on.I also agree with Benjo the point being there was somthing about the way he wrote that got you thinking and he had a quality about his writing which made alot of people take notice and has spurred on countless discussions. I for one do not think it has reached a conclusion and don't really think it will untill 2005 when we sit at home waiting for news on the Civil war in America. wink2.gif

There is just something that strikes me as terribly wrong with this guy's story. And for what it's worth, Halo, I've met some serious nutcases in my time, and they all have a way coming across as very convincing, until you start to dig a little bit. That's how people start cults. I think this guy simply took notice of some trends in current events going on, and built himself a little fantasy world around it. I'm sorry but I still don't buy it, and I don't think I ever will.
