Trump wants to raise taxes

questionmark

Recommended Posts

Donald Trump wants to raise taxes on the “very wealthy” and reduce the number of “unfair deductions” so that the middle class and corporations pay less in federal taxes, he said in an interview with “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday evening.

The Republican presidential candidate, who is leading in early polls, plans to release his tax proposal at a news conference

Monday morning in New York, but he shared some details during the interview on the CBS News program.

He has yet to explain which taxes he would increase or how the United States would afford major cuts.

Not much he can say. Trump isn't a politician and therefore would never have been approached to sign the silly agreement.

Because there is a tradition in American elections: You lead the polls until you loose the nomination.

Its just normally how it goes. The longer you are in the spotlight the longer the media focuses on you and your rivals and all your negatives can pile up.

That is my theory anyways

So why did you scream your lungs out when a Dem proposed something similar a few years back?

I did? I'm sorry, I don't recall saying anything like that. Or did you mean "you" in the general sense of people you don't normally agree with?

The Trump Tax Plan Achieves These Goals

1. If you are single and earn less than $25,000, or married and jointly earn less than $50,000, you will not owe any income tax. That removes nearly 75 million households – over 50% – from the income tax rolls. They get a new one page form to send the IRS saying, “I win,” those who would otherwise owe income taxes will save an average of nearly $1,000 each.

2. All other Americans will get a simpler tax code with four brackets – 0%, 10%, 20% and 25% – instead of the current seven. This new tax code eliminates the marriage penalty and the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) while providing the lowest tax rate since before World War II.

3. No business of any size, from a Fortune 500 to a mom and pop shop to a freelancer living job to job, will pay more than 15% of their business income in taxes. This lower rate makes corporate inversions unnecessary by making America’s tax rate one of the best in the world.

4. No family will have to pay the death tax. You earned and saved that money for your family, not the government. You paid taxes on it when you earned it.

The Trump Tax Plan Is Revenue Neutral

The Trump tax cuts are fully paid for by:

1. Reducing or eliminating most deductions and loopholes available to the very rich

2. A one-time deemed repatriation of corporate cash held overseas at a significantly discounted 10% tax rate, followed by an end to the deferral of taxes on corporate income earned abroad.

3. Reducing or eliminating corporate loopholes that cater to special interests, as well as deductions made unnecessary or redundant by the new lower tax rate on corporations and business income. We will also phase in a reasonable cap on the deductibility of business interest expenses.

Post a link or post this Democrats tax plan and let's compare them side by side.

Thanks for the link but looking at that graph it provides is only comparing McCain/Obama's tax plans. It doesn't provide actual percentages for each tax bracket.... it just shows what decreases in percentages each candidate was offering.

Ive been searching for a 2008 Obama tax plan which, like Trump just released, which simply shows a breakdown of each individual tax bracket as if you were to walk into H@R block tomorrow and get your taxes done.

Just curious.... Did Obama offer a ZERO percent tax bracket for single incomes below $25 000 like Trump is proposing? .... ZERO % for joint filiers below $50 000? ....and ZERO % for oneheadofthehousehold below $37 000?

Or did Obama only offer a slight tax decrease percentage?

It seems to me the lowest income earners hurt the most and this is where tax relief is needed the most. Trumps plan adresses that among other tax relief for most income earners including small businesses.

Oh, suddenly you are a socialist too advocating 0 taxes for the poor?

Basically what Trump is presenting is a failed plan from 2008. And that is the bottom line. A few numbers shifted bit if we look long enough we had those too before. From a Democrat.

It can't be a failed plan if it was never implemented can it? It simply means the general public didn't understand it...or vote for it.

No, it means that some people always applaud what comes out of the mouth of their Hero de jour. Whether it makes sense or not is never questioned. It either did make sense then and was not accepted because the hero did not promote it or it did not make sense then either.

In either case it leaves a stale aftertaste.

????

Haha... I'm a Libertarian... I've always advocated for ZERO tax brackets.... nice try though.

The bottom line is Trumps tax plan exempts nearly 75 million(the bottom earners) from paying ZERO federal tax at all!!!

Obama's 2008 tax plan only offered tax decreases.... but the 75 million were still required to pay Fed. taxes.

What you did creating this thread was imply both Obama and Trumps plans raise taxes on the rich..... leaving out the juicy part where Trumps plan Trumps Obama's 2008 tax proposal because it also helps the bottom earners at the same time.

around 47% of households don't pay any taxes as is and did not do so then either, and of those the large majority are households with $50k or less income. So in reality Mr. Trump is only raising taxes in one segment: the rich.

To put Trumps plan into perspective by eliminating fed. taxes on the lowest income earners is basically raising the minimum wage for all those in these tax brackets without even touching the minimum wage laws affecting busineses. He essentially killed two birds with one stone. Pretty intelligent really.

Well, no, because if you had read the article I posted you would know that the great majority of those are not paying any federal taxes to start with... not clever... unless you want to increase tax revenue.

Maybe with some people. I have no heroes. I vote for the person I think is best for the job...period.
