Police have investigated an incident after a shop worker allegedly hosed down homeless people with freezing cold water to stop them sleeping in a store doorway.

Tammi-Lee Connor said she was walking home past the Wilkinson store in Canterbury last Thursday when she spotted a group of homeless people being hosed down by a store worker.

Its sad that someone would treat a homeless person like that but people will not walk over them to shop in that store. It hurts their business having them there. Many businesses aren't doing that well anymore and can't afford to lose customers.

If the city really cares set up homeless shelters for them.

Nah, the city'll do what Brisbane's done and put knobbly paving in front of store doorways and stick extra arm rests in the middle of bus shelter seats so it's too uncomfortable for the homeless to be there so they have t sod off and be some other city's problem.

You have a point, but the police should be moving them on, not a shopworker with a grudge and a hosepipe in the middle of winter!

I don't have an answer. It's something for the local authorities to determine.

I do know that you can't just hose down the local hobos in freezing weather conditions though. They'll likely die of hypothermia, which would be tantamount to manslaughter.
