Man caught releasing rodent to get free meal

A diner got out of paying for his Valentine's Day meal after releasing his pet rat into the restaurant, a court heard.

Christopher Baker, 28, ordered a slap-up dinner at a bistro but then secretly produced a rodent from his pocket.

He paid his bill but then put the animal on the floor and started screaming: "It's a rat. I'm not eating here, I want my money back."

He used to drink in a pub I would frequent. There is something off about him, last time I seen him he was telling people he'd lost his wallet and needed to borrow £20 to get home. When finally Dave leant him £20 he thanked him and left promising he would bring the money with him the following Friday. Me and one of my pals then saw Chris in a pub further up the road drinking a pint!

Also, I don't even know him that well but had been talking to him one night, then he followed me round for the rest of the night. Later when I was talking to a lass, he come over and jumped on me, and messed up my hair and was acting like a total idiot. When I pushed him off and yelled at him he threatened me and wanted to go outside and fight! He never ever came out with any mates either, a loner. I don't think he has any friends.

I know that this world is populated by real scumbags, but take a second and imagine, that this article is your 15m in the spot light.

Right now is that dog's day.

And that is a sad testimony to his life.

What happen to the poor rat. :( That is just plain immature and ignorant. I pity his child.

"The rat was taken away by Acord Pest Control, who confirmed it was a pet, and promised to let it out in the wild away from Sunderland, the following day."

So I think they let it go in Newcastle where it will feel at home.
