BabyBash82 Posted October 13, 2005 #6 Share Posted October 13, 2005 Is this some kind of an odd scam? I don't see anything on googles site about google mars..
Pharoah Posted October 13, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 13, 2005 It's a BETA version anyway. I wouldn't reccomend downloading it until it's officially released.

Shivel Posted October 13, 2005 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2005 Its obviously bull. Anyone feel the need to report it to Google? I do. Why do you think it's bull? If it is, it doesn't seem to be obvious bull. I mean, we do have telescopes, having a full scale model of mars doesnt seem too hard to accomplish. BabyBash82 Posted October 13, 2005 #10 Share Posted October 13, 2005 Even though most of mars is still unexplored? and there is really no evidence anywhere linking this project to google.

Azalin Posted October 15, 2005 #13 Share Posted October 15, 2005 They send sattelites to orbit mars that takes a significant time to get there, just so they can relay pictures back to earth. There is no way they are able to scan pictures of mars through sattelite on the internet. This is indeed a scam.

scoobysnack Posted October 16, 2005 #18 Share Posted October 16, 2005 After Google Earth already came Google Moon. Doesn't seem to work anymore though. Google is interviewing candidates for engineering positions at our lunar hosting and research center, opening late in the spring of 2007. This unique opportunity is available only to highly-qualified individuals who are willing to relocate for an extended period of time, are in top physical condition and are capable of surviving with limited access to such modern conveniences as soy low-fat lattes, The Sopranos and a steady supply of oxygen. The Google Copernicus Hosting Environment and Experiment in Search Engineering (G.C.H.E.E.S.E.) I tried to apply for the (G.C.H.E.E.S.E.) job on the moon in 2007 that they were advertising just out of curiuosity as to what the hell they were talking about. I could work on the moon in a cubicle made for maximum efficiency in a no gravity environment. This is the message I got back from google: Thank you for contacting Google about our Copernicus Research Center. We've received an overwhelming response to this opportunity and are not currently accepting additional resumes. We will, however, keep your information on file should we have an opening in the future. At the current staffing levels, we anticipate that we may need additional applicants on or around April Fool's Day in 2104. Until then, we appreciate your interest in Google and your taking the time to write us. Sincerely, The Googlunar Recruiting Team Sounds like a joke to me, but pretty funny reading about. meman22 Posted October 22, 2005 #19 Share Posted October 22, 2005 Its obviously bull. Anyone feel the need to report it to Google? I do. Look at the bottom of the webpage. It says, and I quote "This is just a prank by us but will it be released in reality ?? Maybe the page will look like this only ... " I think that smallpackage is right. It is just a prank.
