An intrepid amateur constructor has claimed to have produced the levitating bed, which is made out of wood and 'floats' thanks to use of incredibly powerful magnets.

No more likely than falling out of a normal bed. The magnets are quite powerful and the bed would not tilt from the weight of an average person sitting/lying on one side of the bed, from what I understand. :tu:

Wouldn't sleeping between (and so close to) such powerful magnets potentially cause medical problems?

I know Electro-magnetic fields can cause serious medical problems if they are powerful enough and you are exposed long enough... Would regular magnets do this????

Easy enough to search the Internet regarding safety of magnets. On Google, one of my first hits was this site. There are claims that such magnets are good for health, but that's another story.
