Family Abilities

Recently, since about new year, my cousin and I have been experiencing very vivid dreams. My cousins dreams have often predicted events from the near future and from the past of the family which she didn't know about. Mine however, have generally stayed normal - very vivid, but normal. In addition, both of us have been experiencing deja vu more often than usual. Another member of our family is a medium. As for me, sometimes I think of things and they just happen - a terrible explanation but I'm hoping my examples will help. I was talking with my friend about an article I had seen a few months ago and wanted to send it to her, but by the time I was home a couple hours later I'd forgotten. When I opened my news the first article on my feed was that one exactly. Another time, I was looking up some old mythological creature one day. I stopped, cleaned the house a bit and turned the TV on. The show on the TV was centred around the mythological creature I had been researching earlier. It wasn't just any ghost - it was something that not many would even realise was a thing, so I was very surprised when this TV show was centred around it. In addition, whenever I find the definition of a word I end up seeing it multiple times in that day or week.

Does anyone know an explanation or name for whatever I'm unconsciously doing? And does anyone know about abilities running in families?

Thanks, R

One mundane explanation is the Badder Meinhof Phenomena.

You may have heard about Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon before. In fact, you probably learned about it for the first time very recently. If not, then you just might hear about it again very soon. Baader-Meinhof is the phenomenon where one happens upon some obscure piece of information—often an unfamiliar word or name—and soon afterwards encounters the same subject again, often repeatedly. Anytime the phrase “That’s so weird, I just heard about that the other day” would be appropriate, the utterer is hip-deep in Baader-Meinhof.

ladevotee,

In my view, abilities can run in families.

As for those other so called coincidences, I see them as a form of telepathy. In physics there is a description of a shared experience called an entangled state. That would be when your subconscious knows what will be broadcast on TV before it happens.

Welcome to the club. Comes in spurts and fits. I'll go for months without any activity then all of a sudden it will happen every day for weeks, just to drop off again and return, usually stronger and more frequently.

I tend to think this is more common in people than we think. We have abilities that aren't fully understood. But they're there. Some have it stronger than others. Just like different breeds of dogs have stronger instincts for the non-obvious than others.

That represents a very poor understanding of entanglement.

Mine too. Another has suggested the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, which is definitely what seems to be happening. But the frequency of it along with other experiences leads me to think it could be something more. I've done some research, but can't find any name for it.

I'm not all sure about dreams perceiving future events, but I know some families are good at breaking down hidden meanings of seemingly nonsense and random events they contain.
