Anomalocaris Posted October 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) What ancient Egypt tells us about a world without religious conflict Neil MacGregor’s final triumph at the British Museum is a show that tells the story of the shared lives and deities of Jews, Christians and Muslims in Egypt’s diverse past – proof that we don’t have to be divided in the present Read more Edited October 30, 2015 by Anomalocaris
Taun Posted October 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2015 It tends to be easier to accept other faiths, when you believe in multiple gods of your own... sort of a "what the heck - there's plenty of room for a couple more!' philosophy... When you believe in a single diety... It gets a bit trickier, accepting others... That was a major problem facing early Jews and then later Christians, in polytheistic cultures...
Grandpa Greenman Posted October 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) That is a good read, thank you for posting it. I think religious wars are more of modern phoneme. It is a ploy to get people to send their children to fight and die for the state. War is largely a money making racket of the elite. Time we average folk put an end to it. Put money into better ventures like food production, healthcare, science and education. There used to be an old hippy saying, "Suppose, they gave war and nobody came." Children of earth, do yourself a favor don't show up, stay home, live and make the world a better world for your children. It is all a lie. The problem can also be in the doctrine itself. There are very few religions that promote things like "thou shalt have no other god before me" and "do not worship false gods and idols". This can lead to religious elitism very quickly

Darius the third used it for his campaigns, back around 300 bc.
Grandpa Greenman Posted October 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2015 Yeah, I guess you are right in that, I bit he used it for the same reason they use now. It is a scam to get pions to die for their profits.
Ashotep Posted October 31, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 31, 2015 There was a time everyone in the ME got along pretty well even if they didn't believe the same. Wish that would happen again.
back to earth Posted October 31, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2015 There was a time everyone in the ME got along pretty well even if they didn't believe the same. Wish that would happen again. I have been in a place / group / religion like that. It was quiet delightful. People were interested in each others different beliefs, looks, national costume, arts and craft, religious scripture, food. It was during International Year of Peace ( waaay back) at the Australian Baha'i Temple. It was amazing . Them someone rang up and said they were going to bomb it .
