'Lone Voice' here: I support and approve of PETA. I think they're right to criticise the content of childrens' games. Posters here are saying the creatures are imaginary, which is obviously true, BUT ....... they(the posters), are not children! Young children can't always distinguish between what's real and what isn't, even when they say they CAN, if asked! Facts and falsehoods are all soaked up equally by young brains and no discrimination is applied.
I am a bit late coming into this topic, but.. umm no?
My kids loved pokemon, I never did.. they watched it on tv, played games, had the pokemon games and toys that were out at their time
All their friends were into it too..
Not any child I know of has thought of being abusive towards animals due to the show, we actually take in feral cats, get them fixed, shots.. and re release them.. the kittens we trap, tame.. find homes..
My now adult children are very loving towards animals. (though many may say no, because *ahem* I grew up in a hunting family, and we all eat rabbit and venison)
A tv show is not going to turn a child into an abuser. IF they are going to grow into abusers, there is most likely something inside them that no tv show is really going to stop or keep going.
People who abuse, usually are abused. Or them have some mental disorder of some kind or are just those pple hwo seem to have no concept of right or wrong, they just do not care.
A game like pokemon would mean nothing to them.
I think blaming music, tv and games is a very big cop out.
I mean I guess you could say that earlier abusers were abusive because of larry moe and curley?
What of abusers before them?
Peta is just out for attention, they think that any publicity is better than no publicity.
Not much different then politicians.
