I hope you're not sourcing information from Bild Zeitung? if the truth be told the EDL grew out of the police's refusal or and inability to curb Muslim gangs who control many major cities in England, whenever the EDL protest left wing fascists and Muslim thugs turn up intent on violence.
Of course I read BILD. You should always know what your enemy thinks.

But no, for info, I rely on print media like Der Spiegel, FAZ, taz, Frankfurter Rundschau, Die Zeit.

But why a group was formed really doesn't explain what kind of people it consists of.

I can't really voice an opinion on whether the EDL is good or bad, but I will say it is far better to support something than oppose something.

I am opposed to Islamo-fascism(if such a thing truly exists), sure, but that is purely because I stand for secularism. I think all people in a nation should be bound by the same law - Man's Law - because history has shown that God's Law, no matter the flavour is incredibly detrimental to humanity.

I am not a man, merely a parody of one.

I think we can all agree that Islamic extremists are pond-life. The disgreement is over assertions that the EDL are a peaceful organisation. So the discussion is bound to tend toward that.

Personally, I think both are revolting examples of humanity.

Hmm.......One of these 'groups' follows a religion that calls for the death of anyone that doesn't follow that religion, & on a regular basis follows through on that threat. That same group treat their women (all women) as second class citizens. That same group of people call for the death of homosexuals & jews. That same group carry so called 'honour killings' on their own children. The same group want to introduce religious courts based on their religious practices that would bypass the laws of the country that we all live in.

The other group demonstrate in the streets to call for an end to the above.......& you vilify both equally,.....

strange days indeed.

It was started by young men on the street who came into daily contact with with Muslim gangs, it now has members from all walks of life.

I didn't say I find them equally revolting :P

But if you really think the EDL is harmless and peaceful you should take a look at their website discussion board. More than a few comments along the lines of : "Now I'm not saying Hitler was perfect, but...."

These guys are ideologues promoting a nationalist agenda - nothing good will come of it.

The same could be said of the SNP.

I could be wrong, but I don't think I ever heard anyone from the SNP identifying with Hitler.

Somehow I tend to prefer German sources. But I do know the Guardian and of course the BBC, and think of them as quite useful news sources. Which British media would you recommend? I like getting different opinions on a topic.

Britain is a strange country.

Religious believers are portrayed as mentally ill, materialism is all the rage and if you think immigration has gone too far then you must be a nazi. The boardrooms of the BBC and Guardian are occupied by left wing extremists.

If you want to find out about the EDL go to their website or one of their demos and have a look. They have plenty of Jewish and Asian members who hate Muslim extremism. Yet despite this and the peaceful demostrations the UAF keep turning up to wherever they are trying to kick their heads in. The BBC then blames the EDL.

Those in the know are aware that the Labour Party and Unite fund the UAF. It was Tony Blair that gave most directors at the BBC their jobs and thats why they churn this sugarlight out too.

Was that from the guardian too?

As has been pointed out previously, our state broadcaster has a heavy left wing bias & any organization that doesn't conform to their leftist ideology is always portrayed as 'extreme right wing' & yet the UAF (unite against fascism (oh the irony) are the biggest thugs of the lot, & they're sponsored by the previous labour government.

p.s. remember, Hitler was the head of the National Socialist workers party, thats where the word Nazis came from.

I read through a lot of that board and found that particular post to be pretty representative. But like I said. This is not what the 'loony liberal left media conspiracy' is saying. It's what they themselves say.

I think the muslims in question are a far bigger threat then the EDL. Words are words, but bombs kill people.

I did a search on their site for Hitler and fascists and all i came up with was derogatory comments on both.
