I'll start with me, My religious views are placed primarily by my personal experience and self-education. My view of God is an ever-lasting, supreme spirit that can be felt in my prayers and meditation. Everything in nature like the Sun,water, and of course my mother are to me, the many sights of God's presence . I'm not christian but I'll use a bible verse for a reference Genesis 2/7 -He breathed the breath of life into the man's nostrils, and the man became a living soul- So I believe that God is the breath of life. I never really believed there was a ?devil? but I most definitely believe in spirits esp the presence of ancestors (grandmother etc).

Im an American that was raised Hindu. I meditate and read Buddhist philosophies and know that I live in a Christian country. I took a year long course on religious studies in college so have an appreciation for all religions and respect them although I may not practice them.

I'm your typical sub-urban Protestant. Denomination I currently attend is a Vineyard Church, with about 100 people attending each week (Not counting childred. Of which there are probably another 50).

I've yet to hear intolerance from anyone where I go. We generally just let others go their own way.

I was agnostic the first 30 years of my life. Raised by non-religious, almost Atheist, parents.

I am a believer in Near death experiences, death bed visions, quantum physics, and the holographic nature of the Universe. My whole life I have more or less lived by a rather Taoist philosophy even though I didn't know it. So I guess one might say that I am a Taoist/Spiritualist.

I am a christian mystic which is kind of paganish to some christians I think. I firmly believe in god and the connection to the holy spirit that resides in each and everyone of us, all of nature and all things. I am not a traditional christian because I don't agree with demonizing other practices but rather embracing the harmony of the one true spirit, understood and interpreted throughout the lands. I still claim Christianity for several reasons but the main reasons are because I did come to know God through Christ and also because I feel Christianity will be facing turmoil in the near future and I want to be there to support my brothers and sisters in the lord. I am different though because I use the bible, other texts and examples from lives (regardless of religion), my own life and the living word of god which is inside of me for spiritual growth and understanding rather than just what an outside source tells me is right or wrong about what to believe, do and read etc.. i really want to understand everything, as much as i can at least. so I do not go outside of christianity because I understand its true essence (in my opinion) but many christians dont understand me. If i were to say i understand how a goddess of another religion was the representation of the feminine aspect, or wven something as simple as Allah is the same God I'm afraid they would try to throw me in a special prayer room and try to get the devil out of me - but I KNOW I know God. I have a lot of theories about actualities (the things we argue about instead of seeking god, doctrine etc, gods... but i wont talk about that now.)I do believe in satan as well (he represents hate and destruction and is very much integrated into every ruling system of this world and in most of our minds, that is why i think spiritual growth is a natural evolution, we will need to shake the hatred out of ourselves first and out of the systems some how, but majorily we have to worry about ourselves) ... I believe it is up to you and me to slap the taste out his mouth and wipe that ugly grin off his face by spreading love, by abiding in love, and being guided by the spirit of god, for our own lives, our family (blood and spiritual - all within our circle) for now and to add our bit to the upbuilding of the kingdom of righteousness throughout the world... I also understand the diversity of the spirit of god and how a person may not need to be in relation with god (for now) or have a totally different understanding that I have no clue about and that is perfectly ok because we all have our own paths and are placed in different arenas for different reasons. The people who are suffering are the ones who need attention, from the divine, from thierselves, from thier surroundings etc.. and they will get it if they pay attention.. but some need to WAKE UP! :)

I am still developing spiritually however. Onward Christian Soldier lol.

I could never call myself an atheist, which is a strong belief of the imposibility of there being a God or gods.

Agnostic is a subtle belief that its imposible to prove the existance of a God.

Have come to study more in the beliefs of ancient Sumeria literature which never talks of gods but express there beliefs as deitys.

Until our true history of why we are here comes forward mankind will continue to question there beliefs.

I recently found out that what I'm following is something called henotheism. I was raised a Christian and still follow that god but that doesn't rule out the existence of others (who I've been becoming more interested in recently).

It would be kinda cool if there were something higher, but also it would be pretty f@#ked up too for all the crap that goes on.

There is lots of Old Testement going on about not worshiping the other gods. So even the Bible admits that there are others. Worship no other god before the Lord your God, or, some such... Again implying that there is/was other gods.

I think a lot of Christians get into being Religious, instead of being simply Christians. They focus too much on what should not be done, rather then what they should be doing. Love thy neighbor, and if it shines through, your neighbor might think there is something to your Religion. If you only Preach and hate on people and spread fear, that is not going to win anyone over to the Gospel.

I knew a guy in College who was an honest to goodness Thor worshipper. This was like 1989, so it was way before Thor was a mainstream, well known figure. Dude did various psuedo-norse ceremonies.

How do you contrast being religious with being Christian?

(...sigh...and preaching, hating, and spreading fear isn't the goal of all Christians)

Monoethiesm or the belief in one God or supreme force is actually a newer concept in mankinds short history.

Before then the beliefs of spirits and many gods were known and worshipped.

Being a Christian is not about following rules, and trying to make others follow rules too. That is like the pharasees who tried to get Jesus killed. Those who are Religiious are caught up in the Religion and rules of the religion. These are the Church Ladies and Holy Rollers. They feel great about looking down on people and saying who is a sinner and who should be mocked. Jesus did none of that. He helped regardless of who a person was. He loved on people for who they were. He did not try to convert people, but simply demostrated what his Faith in His Father did for him. Jesus occationally spoke of hate, but in the same way a father can hate bad choices his daughter is making in going out with a gangster drug addict.

Is Christianity even Monotheism? It can be argued. The various Angels and Saints fit into the roles of Spirits and Demi-Gods in many cultures.

Personally, I believe in God and his subporting angel heiarchy, but I can see the other arguement.

I am a Christian. I grew up in a religious (but not Christian) family. If you want a more detailed understanding of what type of Christian I am, being that it is often hard to know exactly what I mean when I simply say "Christian", I identify most closely with Conservative Evangelical Bible-believing non-denominational Protestantism. I attend an Anglican Church, but to me that is just a man-made label, it is not the sole arbiter of Truth (only the Bible can lay that claim, in my opinion).

I'm an atheist on rational grounds, a Buddhist on cultural and philosophical and moral grounds (Buddhism and atheism work well together) and, since one's economics is generally tied in with one's religion, I'm a mixed-market socialist on political and economic and historical grounds.

The one place I part with standard Marxist atheism is that I am not a materialist (reductionist) because of the qualia issue, which tends to force me into the Buddhist camp there.
