Wife says she travels and sees other beings

My name is William and my wife's name is Natalie. I'm writing to you because of strange experiences we've been having the last few years.

Sometimes Natalie will have TIA's (transcient ischemic attacks / mini strokes) or so we think (at least that's what they look like).

The episode usually starts with her feeling strange, weird, confused and her head might be hurting as well. Then she normally hangs her head for a few minutes with her eyes closed (sometimes shaking her head), she normally loses her memory, doesn't remember me, doesn't remember where she is, doesn't recognize her bedroom / house, has a high level of difficulty getting her words out and sometimes even loses some ability to move either the right or left side of her body (arms or legs). Sometimes they even happen while she is sleeping and then wakes to find she has difficulty speaking, a bad headache and sometimes other symptoms as listed above depending on the strength of the episode.

I have taken her to the hospital many times immediately after these events occur so the doctors and other specialists can run tests to see what happened. However, in every single case their results indicate that nothing happened. There is no evidence of a stroke, TIA, etc.

I don't understand because I can clearly see something is happening with my own eyes. I even video my wife many times during these episodes. I also give her paper to write on immediately after these episodes occur (because she has difficulty speaking) and the strange thing is that she'll write about visiting different worlds (or places or dimensions or whatever, I'm not sure). She writes about basically two types of beings -- one set "bad" and the other set "good."

She also writes that she comes into contact with this one same girl / woman all the time (every time she has an episode). She even knows the name of this girl / woman. My wife says that this woman she sees and talks to tells her that there are "bad" aliens? / paranormal entities? inter-dimensional beings? that are after her and so my wife trys to save this woman and run from them. My wife will write and tell me conversations or events that happened while she was over there. She'll have specific things to say and then she'll lay down to rest and slowly her memory will come back and she'll return to normal -- just like an every day person like everyone else.

Another strange thing is normally my wife is right handed but when she has these episodes she'll write with her left hand. I have all of her writings which I keep in a file.

After this last episode (today) she wrote that the girl / woman she sees every time told her she can see me (yes, actually me) and that there are "bad" beings trying to get to me but other "good" ones are protecting me.

There have been other strange events happen but I'll stop there for now. I'm posting this in the hope to see if I can find any other people going through the same type of events. I'm also trying to find someone who can help explain what is happening to my wife. Thanks in advance for all your help.

William

Hi William , welcome to UM , after reading your post I would be considering other options , there is a disorder called Disassociation Identity Disorder that would fit your wife's episodes . I would consult with your GP and get a referral to see a Psychologist or a Psychiatrist , these episodes could be coming from your wife's sub concious , she would not be aware that it is from her sub concious , it would feel it was from a source outside of her . Good luck , it must be a frightening experience for you both and I hope you seek the proper medical care .

Hi William and Welcome to UM! That's a great suggestion Ozfactor. I was thinking it could be petit mal seizures but Disassociation Identity Disorder fits very well :tu:

It could be a form of Epilepsy. The neurons in the brain regulate the flow of electrical activity.

And when the neurons get stuck on and allow the flow of electrical activity to continue constantly,

the individual has a seizure. When the person stops having a seizure, they feel disoriented and depressed

until they get there wits back over time.

I don't know much about epilepsy. Would they be able to tell after the fact if she had a seizure?

That must be terrifying and intriguing at the same time.

I wish you both well.

With certain types of Epilepsy, after a person has a seizure, they look groggy and look confused.

Before a seizure they might have a feeling of fear or sensational feelings in places like their neck

or head area. Sometimes the person will jerk several times prior to a grandma seizure.

Could you take a few pics of some of the notes she wrote, and share them?

I was thinking the same thing.

But I imagine he would need her permission to do so.

There may be other things in these purported notes that are to personal to share.

Anyway, just a thought.

Yes that's what the Petit Mal is. It's a much smaller level of seizure (form of epilepsy) than the grand mal<--what you probably think of when someone says seizure. I will get a link so you can see the difference. It's very slight and sometimes people don't realize that what's happening.

Here you all go: http://en.wikipedia....Absence_seizure

In the medical world this sometimes presents as a "zebra" - in other words, a smaller problem actually appearing as a bigger problem. I'm fairly certain she is having petit mal seizures and should go see a doctor about this. Neurologist.

I'm very familiar with Epilepsy because I've had it since 15. I take Depakote and been seizure free for over 20 yrs.

The type I've been diagnosed with is called Juvenile Myoclonic. The neurologist told me that the Neurons/Nerve

Cells act like a light switch that turns on and off electrical activity, And when they get stuck on and don't shut off,

that's when a seizure happens.

Black out the personal things.....I doubt anything personal, after reading the story.

or.....It would take to much work to write them out just to get a pic of them.....

Sure, things could be blacked out if need be.

Lets let the OP decide - that's if he chooses to return.

Even so, I wish he and his wife well.

It sounds like she has some kind of dissociative issue, or perhaps is suffering from seizures. Regardless to what it actually is, there is clearly something happening to her memory and abilities. As such, it seems odd to take anything she says regarding visions seriously, considering that the brain is really good at fabricating memories and hallucinations when it is in a state of trauma. Have you taken her to a doctor any time other than right after an episode?
