Psychic snaps photo of Black Eyed Child

A psychic who claims to have come face-to-face with The Black Eyed Child has revealed the ghoul was the victim of a diphtheria outbreak in the 1800s.

Christine Hamlett says her special powers allow ghosts like the girl with the charcoal eye sockets - spotted dozens of times in recent weeks - to present themselves to her.

And after photographing the infamous spook praying twice on the sprawling Cannock Chase, Staffs, the 57-year-old has now released new intriguing pictures of the supposed phenomenon.

That's supposed to be a real photo? Seriously, these "psychics" need to try harder. Or learn to use photo editing software better.

The circle around the "child" screams "EDITED!" to me.

The circle around the child is just a crude attempt at marking out the 'ghost' so we can see it (in case it's not obvious). That in itself isn't evidence of it being hoaxed. Plenty of people do that with their 'paranormal' photos before uploading them when there's no attempt to deceive.

It's definitely suspicious that it's in black and white however. What better way to hide the fact that your poorly edited together ghost photo has wonky colours that clear don't match than to simply strip out all the colours and published it in black and white? That and the uneven crude halo around the child that is suspiciously darker than anything else in the photo, as if it came from a completely different source with different exposure and was very badly put in.

Yeah, that halo is what I meant to point out.

Ah right. Yup, it definitely looks darn odd as it stands out as so much darker than anything else in the pic.

I was thinking about contacting her and ask her some questions and see if I could source the original photo, but I don't think I can't be bothered anymore. Any polite and reasonable attempts I've made to contact people who have published photos online that look very dubious to me (I've never accused or hinted at anyone of being dishonest in these kind of email conversations) have met with outright hostility to the point that after 1 or 2 emails they angrily ask me to never contact them again despite all my asking for is the original resolution photo that came directly from the camera.

Bah humbug. I can't help but be cynical about stories and photos like in the OP.

She's a psychic for a living, so naturally she is going to be hostile to anything that might get in the way of her gravy train. This is probably just to get her more google hits, as people try to see what kind of psychic she is and where she does her readings at.

I'd not be very surprised if it was someone like her trying to drum up business who re-ignited this whole thing.

I'm a believer in the paranormal. But I'm not convinced by this terrible photo and I don't believe what the medium has said.

Wouldn't they wear shades or contact lenses if they were attempting some clandestine shuffle into society, I don't even know what the logic or trigger is for black eyed kids other than creepy encounters or knocks at doors. The banshee supposedly wails on a street outside someone's house when a relative has died, poltergeists are the forms of energy unleashed by hyper-sensitive teenagers letting off emotions, crisis apparitions appear at the moment of death of a loved one... I dunno, they just don't seem to have any angle other than having a disturbing colour of a distinctive feature and being young, which always adds eeriness. Are they supposed to be demons masquerading? I remember a story of them supposedly knocking on folks doors demanding to be let in vampire-like to presumably suck the soul from your nose. Is there an actual documented history or anything?

Why is there only have one photo of the black eyed girl, a few more from different angles would have helped.

But seriously, am I wrong, or is that a jokingly photoshopped photo of Boxxxy in the article, captioned as "chilling"?

But kids with sunglasses or contact lenses doesn't make for good creepypasta so you have to have "reports" of kids with coal black eyes to make it "creepy".

It's doing the rounds on lots of websites that mention black eyed kids. What better to creep up your story when you don't have actual photos with a dumb looking photoshopped picture to illustrate it?

It....looks like a bush with something dark behind it. I don't get it.

I'm a little disappointed... I keep reading threw these comments(and even made a smart ass comment on it), and can't help but think "Do they realy think the magic red circle and the dark outline around the 'Black eyed child' were suppose to be real?" lol

I think they were just put in there to emphasize "THIS IS WHERE IT'S AT!"

Now do I think this photo is of a "Black Eyed Kid"? No, but do I think that she did snap a picture of a normal kid threw a window? Yeah, it's possible...

Am I missing something? I can't even see the eyes of the "black-eyed kid." Not only does this look fake, it looks unnecessarily fake. Either that, or she's the first person to capture a ghost's aura on camera. Which would probably be an even better story for the picture, as I think about it.

Sounds and looks fake to me. I think that others believing that she is psychic gives her a sense of purpose :hmm:.
