Still Waters Posted November 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2012 A noble-but-brutal Renaissance warrior who fell to a battle wound may not have died exactly as historians had believed, according to a new investigation of the man's bones. Italian researchers opened the tomb of Giovanni dalle Bande Nere, or Giovanni of the Black Bands, this week to investigate the real cause of his death. Giovanni was born in 1498 into the wealthy and influential Medici family, a lineage that produced three Popes and two regent queens of France, among many other nobles (Another branch of the family, the Medicis of Milan, boasted a fourth Pope) http://www.livescien...ery-injury.html

Lava_Lady Posted November 26, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2012 I wonder what that note in the glass tube said. Seems like it might be important since they didn't see it before. Might be an explanation as to why only his foot is gone. What a tease of an article.

Keel M. Posted November 27, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 27, 2012 I agree Lava-Lady, it is a tease of an article, but perhaps the investigation has only just begun. Of course if that's the case, why not wait and write an article about the results? *shrugs*
