A Third Star Wars Trilogy ?

From digitalspy.co.uk:

Rumours have started that George Lucas is considering filming another three films in the blockbusting series to pick up the story where Return of the Jedi left it over twenty years ago.

Speculation began when fansite Theforce.Net received a post claiming that employees of Industrial Light And Magic, Lucas' special effects company, have signed non-disclosure agreements preventing them from discussing the possibility of more sequels being filmed. If at least the beginnings of such plans do not exist, then it begs the question why the company's workers would be hushed.

Lucasfilm recently denied plans to film more films in the Star Wars franchise, and George Lucas himself has always denied such plans. Perhaps the agreements allegedly signed by the effects company see the beginning of a change of policy.

There was talk around the time of The Empire Strikes Back that George Lucas had originally written NINE chapters in the saga- with the middle three being made first.

If they do another trilogy after this one's done, I hope they do a slightly better job than they have been (at least there won't be any Jar Jar Binks in it).

I'll go see Episode III... so long as they don't screw up Darth Vaders first appearance.

... and if they kill Jar Jar Binks under the foot of an AT-AT...

In my opinion the stories of the first three were so much better because Lucas was able to work directly with Joseph Campbell(The Power of Myth, an incredible read), to come up with incredibly powerful storyline.

Campbell, who is a master of myth and comparative religions helped to come up with the concepts that ended up being one of the greatest good vs. evil stories to hit the silver screen.

Lucas doesn't have that now, and seems to be leaning on the high tech aspects of the movies rather than the storyline. Like many others I have been incredibly let down by his latest attempts from lucas.

The storyline was poor, the acting was dreadful...but it looked pretty. rolleyes.gif

they should make a film of the XBOX game Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, if you've played the game, you know it would make a rather entertaining film, plus theres a sequel coming out for it soon....

I`ve always wanted to know what would happen after the end of the middle three movies, the true star wars trilogy! I would go and see them but you would be hoping they were better than the latest ones, although they did look very, very pretty!!! tongue.gif

You never know they might be good... so long as Lucas isn't allowed near the set. tongue.gif

Another one of the big differences between 4-6 and 1-3 is that Lucas hired an actual writer to write the scripts for the original trilogy, but has written the scripts for 1-3 so that no info was leaked. If he got a writer, things could be improved. Also even with his age being where it is, he could always film all three at once like Peter Jackson did with LOTR.

If George Lucas was going to get a writer in then I think it should be either Kevin J Anderson(author of The Jedi Academy trilogy) or Timothy Zahn(author of Heir To The Empire trilogy)

Certainly can't be any worse than the drivel that's been saturating the movies lately... I still can't believe they did the Clone Wars as an animated series... I wanted to see Jedi's and Clones whacking and shoot bits and pieces of each other off with light sabers and blasters.

One good thing about the prequals- the Stormtroopers had better aim than in the Original Trilogy (maybe the clone degrade after several cloning sessions?).

(maybe the clone degrade after several cloning sessions?).

You could be right Stewey,it might be a case of after the same clones are cloned too many times that something wears out.

So it could be their aim. thumbsup.gif

Of course, there's the Special Edition Stormtroopers... they're aim wasn't bad enough as Original Release Stormtroopers, but they had to have their aim made even worse via CGI... much like Special Edition Greedo when he takes a pot shot at Han Solo.

I still feel sorry for Bobba Fett being turned into one of the Three Stooges when he bought it in Return of the Jedi at the Pit. disgust.gif

As for cloning, I feel it takes the fun out of certainn aspects of Life. whistling2.gif

I know why Greedo shot first (other than to prove how cool Han Solo was. original.gif ).

Bobba Fett escaped the Pit? Good. He was too cool a villian (next to Vader and Khan in my books) to die in such a stupid way.

Maybe the Stormtroopers are such lousy shots because Jango Fett wasn't that good.

Well, it looks as though the rumours don't have any truth to them:

Article today from digitalspy.co.uk

Rumours of a third trilogy in the Star Wars franchise have been rife this week, but Lucasfilm, the company behind the movies, are denying that there is any truth in them.

The rumours stemmed from an anonymous source on the fansite TheForce.Net, claiming that employees of Industrial Light And Magic, Lucas' special effects company, had signed non-disclosure agreements preventing them from speaking out about the existence any plans to film Episodes VII, VIII and IX. Going by the theory that there is no smoke without fire, this drove people to the conclusion that such plans exist.

However, Lucasfilm spokesperson Lynn Fox told E! Online that the rumours are unfounded. "The rumours are absolutely untrue...Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith is our last and final installment."
