Yesterday news was that the giant company called Microsoft, the producer of Word, PowerPoint, Xbox and other softwares have a security leak. Their source code, the bread and butter of their software was leaked out. Most possible a inside job as usual.

I don't think it will affect microsoft too much. The sourcecode cannot really be used for anything, it is not even complete. At most, hackers in slashdot will make fun of microsoft programing style, but that's it.

yes, some parts of the source code was reported as leaked. Microsoft does have some control over the press.

Actually Linux has about the same amount of swear words tongue.gif

Some quotes from Linux sourcecode (ver 2.4.22)

If you don't see why, please stay the f##k away from my code.

the kernel try to remap our BAR #1 and f##k up bus

Some BIOS's are f##ked and don't set all MTRRs the same! */

irixioctl.c: A f##king mess...

#if 0 /* XXX No f##king way dude... */

* f##king with the memory controller because it needs to know the

/* F##k me gently with a chainsaw... */

/* XXX F##king Cypress... */

/* f##k me plenty */

/* Binary compatibility is good American knowhow f##kin' up. */

/* F##king losing PROM has more mappings in the TLB, but

/* Why the f##k did they have to change this? */

/* ARGH! F##king brain damage. You don't want to know. */

These chips are basically f##ked by design, and getting this driver

Only Sun can take such nice parts and f##k up the programming interface

/* This card is _f##king_ hot... */

/* ??? What the f##k is the purpose of the interrupt mask

* how bad the target and/or ESP f##ks things up.

/* Be careful, we could really get f##ked during synchronous

/* Ugly, ugly f##ker. */

:/* master list of VME vectors -- don't f##k with this */

/* If you f##k with this, update ret_from_syscall code too. */

Some hacker's name being mentioned, including Trovalds grin2.gif

* Wirzenius wrote this portably, Torvalds f##ked it up :-)

/* James M doesn't say f##k enough. */

Alexey is a f##king genius?

Not just comments, but there is actually a variable called release_f##k

DRM(release_f##k)(struct inode *inode, struct file *filp);

clap.gifclap.gifclap.gifnotworthy.gifnotworthy.gifclap.gifclap.gifclap.gifthumbsup.gif

did anyone else get the joke in that code ?

As for where to get the microsoft code , It is probobly on a peer2peer network like kazaa ... but I wouldn't bet on looking there as there are probobly many fake files claiming to be the same thing that are actually trojans . It would be lucky to get the right one .

Your best bet would definatly be Mirc chat program ( search for "Mirc" it should be easy to find ) and search around chating about the code untill you find the code itself . ph34r.gif

Overall , I wouldnt bother trying unless you want the code for something . As for the source code being littered with profanity , I am not surprised as my freinds ( in the real world ) do the same thin with any C++ program they write , or any other code ... including myself on occasion if its not working or the compiling fails .

...curses to all compiling errors CURSE THEM ALL !!!!! po.gif

Oh, we must see the trend ...

Windows 3.1 can be fitted into a floppy disk

Windowss 9x is about 600Mb if I remember correctly

Windows XP is 1.5 Gb

Windows Longhorn .... i think we all need new hard drive.

Windows 3.1 now is pretty much free

Windows 9x, you still have to pay, is it $30 ?

Windows XP ... $299

Windows Longhorn ... please transfer all money in your bank account to Mr. Gates

Anyway... I saw the screenshot of longhorn a while ago. Its taskbar is about 2 inches thick, everything was blue (including the BSOD I guess). Oh, it also has 4 virtual desktops which reminds me to something whistling2.gif

laugh.gif you forgot to add in the fact that they all function pretty much the same , despite changes in how much space your hard drive is required .

Windows Longhorn ... please transfer all money in your bank account to Mr. Gates

LOL laugh.gif

and yet they wonder why most of us simply get a pirated version of windows ...
