spirit2 Posted October 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2006 Well last night I was sat in our living room in one chaior and mum was sat on the couch. We were watching TV and while i was looking at the tv, out of the corner of my kleft eye I saw a transparent form come into the room and disappear as it got close to where I was sitting. I didnt say anything as to not upset mum. I no this may sound dumb but I could clearly make out the upper arm and shoulder area in transparent white color..... organgrinder Posted October 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2006 You don't sound dumb. I think that is what this site is all about. I see people (and critters) out of the corner of my eyes all the time. Most of the time I'm sure they're not ghosts though. The human eye (and probably mind) is notorius for that. I think almost everyone has had that experience. Sometimes it might actually be ghosts, but more often than not I think it's just a fluke. I used to always see something I thought was my cat running around out of the corner of my eye. And I remember my mom used to always see phantom mice scurrying just out of reach. By the time she would shout and grab the broom though she would realize there was no mouse. Christina

SwampGator Posted October 8, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 8, 2006 Personally I would have jumped and yelled at my mom: "Did you see that!!" Unless of course I wasn't sure if I really did see something.
Raptor Posted October 8, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2006 (edited) out of the corner of my left eye I think that explains it. Humans naturally have poor peripheral vision (meaning anything you see outside your field of focus), it's easy to misinterpret things that you see. Pareidolia can then force your brain to think you saw something distinctive (like an arm), when really it could have been 2 messy zigzagged lines coming from, say, a reflection. There are also blind spots (close one eye and put a coin down on your desk, keep looking at the same point of the desk and slowly move the coin across, eventually the coin will 'dissapear'), your brain compensates for these blind spots by 'filling in' the empty spaces using patterns from your surroundings. Sometimes they can clash for a split second making it seem as though something had just appeared. In other words, don't always rely on anything that you see in the corner of your eye. RollingThunder06 Posted October 8, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2006 The title implies you have seen other things. Is this true and if it is can you give examples?

Thozzman Posted February 28, 2007 #11 Share Posted February 28, 2007 I suffer from migraine headaches from time to time, and can usually tell when one is about to come on by seeing moving objects of all shapes and sizes from the corners of my eyes. These aren't ghosts but the effects my migraines are having on the part of my brain which controls vision, so who knows what other ailments may cause the same phenomena? Alienated Being Posted February 28, 2007 #12 Share Posted February 28, 2007 (edited) Hmm, I don't think it would have been "transparent", but more of a "translucency". It reminds me of an experience during a game that we were playing at a friend's house, it was Dungeons & Dragons. As I looked to my right, I noticed a translucent figure sitting in a chair.. I could see all of the detailed clothing... it was REALLY freaky. The man waas sitting down in an olive shirt, blue jeans with socks overlapping the pantlegs. He seemed to have brown hair that was combed back. Edited February 28, 2007 by Alienated Being
bLu3 de 3n3rgy Posted February 28, 2007 #13 Share Posted February 28, 2007 That's pretty cool alienated! IMO the traslucency or solidness of a manifestation can vary from very faint to very solid, as solid as you and I. I think the skill of the spirit, whether it's a spirit or a ghost, the energy available as well as the receptivness of the witness all play a part....
