Are they ghosts?

So, let me start off by saying that for the most part I am a skeptic. While I would like to believe that there is something else out there (Because how rad would that be?) For the most part I don't. But two times now I've woken up the people standing in my apartment, always in the same spot. The first time it happened the figure later made me think of my uncle. Upon further though I'm not totally sure that it WAS my uncle, who is alive and well, but that was the feeling I got. I woke up, noticed, him rolled over, and then had this 'wait, what?' thought and rolled back over to look but the person was gone. I wasn't at all afraid of this person.

The second time it happened was a few days ago. This time I think it was darker and I couldn't really see the person and I was actually a little fearful. There was someone standing in my apartment. But, this was the second time that had happened and my instinct told me to close my eyes and open them again. I did and the figure was gone.

Now, I'm already perfectly aware of sleep paralysis and hypnopompic-hallucinations, but as far as I know both of these cause you to not be able to move. Each time this happened to me I was perfectly able to move. Am I just suffering from something else? And if I'm not how can I tell if there really are sprits here? I'd like to get this all figured out and settled as soon as possible. Any advice would be welcome!

Ok. Any medication? Any medical conditions? What was the environment like at the time (cold, comfortable, humid, hot....)? Give us some more info and we can probably solve this for you.

I have Meniere's Disease. I cannot hear naught but this thrice-damned ringing in my left ear, and I get bad dizzy spells from time to time. On occasion, it translates into sound anomalies (like I think I hear someone speaking, but no one is there). Also, at even more rare times, I see a dark shape in my room--always when I'm having a dizzy spell.

So, at least from my standpoint, there is a bit of a medical condition that can be blamed. I post that as an example to muse over.

Give us more info; we'll most likely find a normal reason for this.

I have hallucinated when just waking up, and I never experienced sleep paralysis. It faded away as I became more awake.

No medical conditions, no medication. The second time it happened I was constantly waking up throughout the night and I'm not sure why. The first time it happened was during last summer. There was nothing note worthy about the conditions when it happened.

Environmental? Was it too hot in your room, keeping you from getting some normal sleep, causing you to wake up constantly? Anything stress-related going on at that time?

Honestly, it's not ghosts or anything like that, so you can rule that out. However, like everyone else (as long as they're not lying), you did experience something at least. Just don't end up jumping to the crazy explanations.

There was nothing notable about my environment. I guess you could maybe say there was stress? Every time I woke up i almost instantly thought 'what time is it?' which for some odd reason I do every now and then when I sleep. But pretty much I wake up with the fear that I've missed my alarm and will be late to work. Like I said I didn't really think it was ghosts, maybe I was just a little hopeful. haha. I'm guessing that I just happened to wake up while in REM and was still sorta stuck mid dream.

That's quite possible. I know it's also a common thing to happen.

If these "people" appear again, speak to them. Yell at them. Joke with them. At least the sound of your voice will either wake you up fully and/or give you a bit of confidence.

One thing though, if it's possible, set up a camera or other recording device and see what happens.

Hypnagogia can appear when one isnt in a sleep paralyses state.

Spirits can appear appear standing in ones room by ones bed.

I dont think anyone can tell you which it was. I suggest to speak to them next time and try to find out.

Ask things which you may be able to vertify later eg the spirts, name, date of birth, location or whatever. Im big on trying to vertify my experiences. I talked to a Sandy who had an American accent, who gave me a name of a town for where she lived.. and when I looked it up..turns out there was a town in America with that same name. And I hadnt known that Sandy was a common American name as it isnt common where I are at all.. I only know one Sandy online who is in my own country. When I looked up online the ones in that small town it actually had several Sandy's living there. I was so annoyed at myself that I didnt think at the time to make sure I got a last name.

Note.. those who can astrally project or have OBES, if your uncle can.. he may appear in your bedroom. So it isnt impossible it may of been uncle.

I suffer from sleep paralysis and often have lucid dreams, and I've hallucinated figures in my room many times, both while "paralyzed" as well as while I'm able to move. I've seen people standing over me and lying beside me. I would imagine what you're seeing are hallucinations as well. I tend to be skeptical of any paranormal experiences one has while in bed.

Oh man I wish that were true. I've torn down shelves and thrown a computer monitor across the room during my hypnopompic hallucinations.

You can move during a hypnagogic hallucination.
