Still Waters Posted February 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2010 Indonesian authorities removed a statue of President Barack Obama from a park in the capital Jakarta due to a public backlash when it was erected. The bronze statue, inspired by a childhood photograph of a 10-year-old Barack Obama in shorts with a butterfly perched on an outstretched thumb, was moved on Monday to the nearby school the US president attended as a child. MARAB0D Posted February 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2010 Sic transit gloria mundi! It is very impractical to put a solid bronze statue of any leader, as the leaders tend to change or lose popularity. Romans were getting around this by manufacturung marble statues with the interchangeable heads, so when the next Caesar was taking power it was only enough to change one detail. acidhead Posted February 16, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2010 Indonesians hold their government to the fire all the time - and guess what? -it works. How do they do it? -they protest - in large numbers. Ever wonder why western governments ignore the people's pleas and concerns? -because, we the people, would rather protest the protesters. ******* I not sure if many realize how close America is to collapsing the global financial market over-night very soon. It is going to get ugly..... Remember fire, water and food are essential for survival. Are you prepared?
