I realize this is a developing story with uncertain facts.

But I think one thing is for certain: Islamic radicals will think twice now before attacking Algeria.

Apparently, Algeria has a "no-holds-barred" approach regarding terrorists.

Good for them!!!!

Seven hostages were reportedly killed and 16 others freed amid reports of a "final assault" by Algerian special forces on the complex that had been taken over by Islamist militants.

Foreign Secretary William Hague said fewer than 10 British nationals were still "at risk or unaccounted for" after a four-day stand-off.

====================================================

Algeria had its fare share of islamists, here i think their priority was the gas plant and not the hostages.

If more countries adopted a similar approach it would lead to a changing reality for sure. I have compassion for the dead but I also imagine that they were adults who knew the risks. In future I expect professionals in any discipline or skill that are to be in harm's way will expect quite a bit more compensation since their very lives will be constantly on the line.

What a bloody solution. It's effective at two things:

1. preventing terrorism

2. less foreign workers

.... hmmmm.... come to think of it, it's the terrorists who won. The foreigners won't be back anytime soon.
