A big question that has never had a scientific answer, just many mythological point of views.. what is the after life? I really wish there was a true answer to this, possibly someone's idea is the correct answer, or just a wild guess.
But, I want to hear your idea, is there nothing after, or a whole new world awaiting your 2nd awakening?

I believe in Heaven, each of us make our own 'world' in Heaven, and it's populated with everything we find beneficial and wonderful and bereft of anything that we find harmful.
I kind of imagine mine as being a house on a golden beach, with sapphire seas and a well stocked library.

I'd like to think that there is a new world awaiting on the other side and that this life is only the beginning for all of us but, I honestly have no idea. I do think however, that the idea of life after death comes from a deep rooted desire to live on eternally. And a perfect example of a culture that felt this way was the Egyptians.

I think we're spirits, we go to different dimensions if anything, once this universe stops it won't matter because there are infinite universes, then we can go to a different plane of existence.

Or nothing happens.

I'm happy with either.

I do believe in the survival of consciousness after death. At the same time, I do not believe in things like gods, spirits, or anything 'supernatural'. I think that things like post-death consciousness, ghosts, reincarnation, etc. can all be found to be viable within the framework of the laws of nature. Of course, another key element to all this: I don't hang my hat on this. Given sufficient challenging, I will be more than willing to overturn this belief. As of yet however I have learned enough to be under the impression that post-death conscious survival is a viable concept.
Try to realize it's all within yourself / No-one else can make you change / And to see you're really only very small / And life flows on within you and without you. / We were talking about the love that's gone so cold and the people / Who gain the world and lose their soul / They don't know they can't see are you one of them? / When you've seen beyond yourself then you may find peace of mind / Is waiting there / And the time will come / when you see we're all one and life flows on within you and without you. ~ George Harrison

When its time to go you gotta go there's no escape, but if you wake up the next day its a bonus, if not...well you wont know anyway. You die if you worry, you die if you don't, so why worry about it...
(1) try your best, ............if that dont work.
(2) try your second best, ........if that dont work
(3) give up you aint gonna win

Death. End of biological function. Decomposition.

I do believe the above to be true so I've got nothing to lose! I'll be pleasantly surprised if there's more. It's a nice concept.

We experience a lesser death each time that we fall asleep.

It is He Who doth take your souls by night and hath knowledge of all that ye have done by day; by day doth He raise you up again; that a term appointed be fulfilled; in the end unto Him will be your return then will He show you the truth of all that ye did.

yeah cool....that pretty much sums it up for me as well. I think of my body as a mere jumpsuit in this life. Whatever inherits it (soul/conciousness/life energy) will pass on to somewhere else after my physical death. LEVEL UP!

i think it will be like dreaming except youre wide awake and wont need to sleep anymore and youll realize you were surrounded by others who loved you the whole time. but i also think it might be a process for some or many or all to refamiliarize / reacclimate to permanant body / mind seperation. to remember what you always were. energy just like anything else. thought / mind / consciousness is also energy. and 2 things can be in 1 place at one time and place except heavy crashing particles. you cant destroy energy. only change it. multidimensional. just like we are right now. except there we work and play at the same time but we know that being human is hard work.

I do believe in a soul and in a life (or continued existence) after death.  I do believe in God and heaven.  Unlike most Christians, I do not believe only Christians go to heaven.  I think everyone does - that the sacrifice of Jesus applies to everyone on Earth.  As Wearer of Hats believes, I think that each of us are given our own area in heaven to live, and its however we want it.  For me, it will be a mountainside house with a thick dense forest surrounding my area with a stream winding nearby or below.  We are given our own area but at the same time, I believe there is a city (or cities) where we can congregate if we so choose.  If you have ever seen the movie (or read the book) What Dreams May Come ... my belief of the afterlife is very similar to that.  We can hang out with our friends, enjoy some alone time, or even work (yes I do believe there is lots of work to be done in heaven).  Then when we are ready, we can choose to come back to this world to learn other lessons.

Religion often attempts to offset the suffering of this life with a belief in an idilic 'life after death'.

For the non-religious our one priority is the quality of 'life before death'.

Whether or not there is anything after this life, we can be fairly certain that in view of the endless theories, religions and views on how to achieve a 'favoured place' in it, the truth would most likely be that achieveing a place in it will be just are arbitrary as this existence.
Which takes us right back to the fact that our only priority should be this life and how we can improve it for ourselves, our brothers and sisters and all the other creatures that we share THIS LIFE with.

The afterlife is what you make of it for a while, then You start to get used to the environment  and start to shed your physical attachments. After this you decide how you want to exist next.

It is certain that once we decay we recycle back into the matter of the world, of the universe, and infinitely continue on in that way... to me, it is death of the configuration we currently experience, but the matter and energy which constitutes us does not die, it only becomes apart of something else.  If that is all that happens, I'm ok with that.

When I think about the possibility of a soul, I tend to believe in like the idea of reincarnation and possibly moving on to other dimensions.
