I was tryinng to look through some of my old posts (2006 - 2007) but the content seems to be limited to 1,000 posts. Is there a way to access these posts?

It's not possible at the moment, the search is hard coded to a maximum limit of 1000 results.
It looks like Invision did this due to technical limitations with the engine however this may change in the next update.

And these are just a couple of results:

It takes a bit more time, but you could add another keyword for your Google search to narrow down the number of results.
