When I was about six the scariest movie ever was 'The Giant Behemoth'.

As an adult though I would have to go with the Exorcist certainly. Another one that gave me serious heebie jeebies was 'Carnival of Souls', the original from the early 60's. B/W, choppy editing and lackluster acting but it all came together to create a kind of nightmarish overall effect that even when I watch it today still creeps me out.

BTW, slasher movies are not scary.

1973's The Exorcist, still sends a shiver down my spine. The FX are a little dated now, but the acting and storyline are still excellent. Watch that by yourself in the dark, in the middle of the night and you will be forced to switch the lights on.

Anything with Will Ferrell in it. The idea that some people think that guy is funny is pretty scary.

She stands out in a crowd, she thinks out loud to save her breath, with a portrait of her parents death.

for me personally, the scariest movie i ever saw was the original "Psycho". if i ever go blind,i might go see the justin bieber movie, but i doubt it. :cat:

You would have to go both deaf and blind to live through that.

Haven't seen it, don't want to see it, but "A Serbian Film" would definitely take the cake. Reading the plot alone had me kinda disturbed. The fact someone comes up with a movie like that is scary as hell.

When I was a kid, "The Sixth Sense" really freaked me out. These days I will still struggle to watch films like it by myself during the night.

  • The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?

I rarely get scared by horror films but I think the scariest one I've seen recently is The Fourth Kind. The original version of The Eye was good but it lost its way about 2/3s in.

The films that made me jump the most are probably Drag Me To Hell and White Noise 2: The Light.

I was about 13 when I first saw The Exorcist and I found it more funny than anything else. I think I was aware of the subliminal images in it before I watched it though. I wonder how much effect they actually have on people when watching that film.

My uncle saw The Fourth Kind and he said it was more of a demonic possession movie rather than about aliens, I havent seen it..  Was it scary and what point do the aliens come in???

COME WITH ME. OVERWHELMING POWER AND MADNESS AWAIT

THAT IS NOT DEAD WHICH CAN ETERNAL LIE AND WITH STRANGE AEONS EVEN DEATH MAY DIE
