I think Ron Paul is right.  These commercial, proxy, and "covert" wars make us less safe with their "blowback" and we're sacrificing our own liberty very deeply just to continue waging them.  It's time we lassoed this out-of-control Executive Branch with some Texas Straight Talk.   It's so nice to see Ron Paul still delivering the message, especially without any political parties or political correctness weighing him down.

I agree with his conclusions about the danger but his solution seems to be retreat with an expectation that our enemies will just leave us alone if we disengage.  Too late for that IMO.  There must be a middle ground, but unilateral retreat isn't it.

There is nothing inevitable about conducting diplomacy through the barrel of a gun.

Nothing NOBLE about it... but inevitable?  Yeah, I think it's proven historically by now that human nature is to do evil instead of good in most instances.

Human nature has been manipulated to earn a fast buck. Venal leadership is the problem.
Humans have the ability to rise above this - its our choice.

People who have no money do terrible things.  People who have unfathomable wealth accomplish great things.   Typically the harder we work in life the more we stay out of trouble.   How many 17 and 18 year olds learned that lesson too late in life and wound up in a cage for making bad decisions?  The value of staying out of trouble does not include working for the government when we consider the wars Ron Paul is talking about and the agencies including our military forces required to fight them.  This presupposes that turning to government is the last place we want to run to avoid violence.

Who mentioned turning to Government. Since Government has been taken over by the military industrial complex it is active citizens resistance to the war machine which will stop the machine.
Government is a necessary evil - but a government dominated by the lobbyists of the military industrial complex is not inevitable and we have choices. It is the failure of average people to exercise their power over government which has lead us to this pass.
Its about time the citizens forced the Governments hand and made them reveal themselves for what they have become - a fascistic dictatorship - maybe then the population will wake up to their situation.

Keynesians.  Keynesians want government to make next quarter's GDP grow a little bit faster too like all those other fiscal quarters, by spending money they don't have on crap we don't need.  Like war.  And all the rest of the crap someone might wind up calling them a "fascist dictatorship" for.    The fascism in our government is the Keynesianism.  It's big government and big business in bed together spending all the big money and putting the debt on the heads of our people.

Then you hedge your own unanswered question by stating that government is a necessary evil.  Not in all situations.  We don't need Washington DC to make the world go around for us.  We don't need Washington DC telling us what kind of energy is right for us, subsidizing oil to the tune of $5.86 billion/year, controlling foreign oil production, telling voters that gas prices come from the White House and it all depends on who you vote for to get your price per gallon.   We don't need price fixing fascists telling us what we're going to pay for things we want to buy.   We're grown ups who can freely make our own decisions the vast majority of the time.  That's my decision; that is your decision.   We are the market.  It's the marketplace's to determine.
