the usa's government is working just like the founding fathers wanted it to.

Liberals seem to think that the governments job is to pass laws and let the supreme court get rid of the bad ones.  But, the founding fathers set up the government so few laws would be passed and even fewer amendments would be passed, so that we don't end up revoking feel good amendments.  Like proabition.

The funniest thing to come from the Senate Democrats lately is that the first budget they've proposed since 2009 will still increase both spending and taxes.  My mind is boggled trying to understand how they honestly think we should stay the course of trying to spend our way out of debt with larger and larger projected deficits every year.

No, it is not. The founding fathers wanted anyone to have a chance at office. They did not want financially backed poloticians.

There is no way a normal joe can be heard, or seen. He or she would be buried without millions and millions in " donations ".

No, the founding fathers didn't trust government.

I have been told on here thet Franklin convenced Boston to open a free hospetal.  If that was so important to him, why didn't he get it put in the bill of rights.  Simple he didn't trust government.  Also, why do you think they gave land to schools.  To keep state and federal goverment out of it.  Since the feds have been in it schools have been going down hill.  Remember the feds only pay about ten percent of the school budget.

Given the Founder Fathers were part of the wealthy elite I don't think average Joes had much of a chance back either, let alone women and minorities.

Ryan's budget increases spending as well.  But, it is about four trillion dollars less than the dem's budget.

Well since George Washingtong was the richest American I'm not really sure how accurate your assumption is.

If so, they don't seem to work very often. Seems like they are always on vacation.

St. Patrick's Day is this weekend.  Congress probably gets two or three weeks off for that don't they ?

You are absolutely right danielost, the founders did not trust government. They saw government as an evil, but necessary evil, and that its power should be limited as much as reasonably possible. Ever since then the government has steadily been increasing its power and size. The republicans pretend to be conservatives, but a close look at what they actually do when they are in power will show you that they are anything but (at least the modern republican party). If any party today understands the founders and what they intended it would have to be the libertarian party.

And no our government is not working. For the last few years they have not even been able to do something as simple as pass an actual budget! How can you consider that working in any way?

This guy signed the Declaration of Independence but refused to sign the Constitution while having a very large impact on its language. A very interesting Founding Father to read up on and definitely saw the conditions we are facing today.
