You know, that has never happened here about that particular topic before. First time for everything, I suppose!

Well, when you're getting tired of debating the subject and you know nobodies going to produce an arguement that everyone agrees with, the above is the only logical decission  grin2.gif

the meaning of life lies within your soul and your entire being. My meaning of life is much different than yours-we all have different reasons as to why we are here. thus the meaning of life.  original.gif

The meaning of life is to ponder about the meaning of life. You will never find it but you have to strive for it.

I understand your argument, don't agree with it, but I see your meaning. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree

Perhaps there is no meaning.  disgust.gif

:::Siva Sarvagatam Prema, Param Satyam Para Siva:::

Sinking, caught up in a whirling motion. Such a strange sensation. The currents uncertain. Like sails of a mill, I spin. Like wheels that move in a circle while you stand on the bank, immune, all evasive..throw me a life line. Save me.
Intimacy and affection, frozen. In this game of chance I forfit. A full hand of love with no counters. Like a moth with no flame to persuade me. Like blood in the rain running thin. While you stand on the inside looking in. Save me, inside looking in. Complete in the circle. Throw me a life line.
Save me.

Lao Tzu. It is a central part of Daoism, a very confusing religion.

I think the purpose of life is progression.
We're not here to make any 'higher power' happy, or to be 'tested' to see if we're worthy of a happy afterlife, etc.
As a species we are constantly evolving and progressing. As one generation dies, a new one is born that is slightly more advanced. And that will keep continuing. Look how different we've become even from our granparents in such a short time. People are a constantly advancing species. We have no one specified goal to reach, but we will keep reaching many new goals as we explore and discover and reasearch.

personally, i think we've deevolved even from our grandparent's generation.  do you really believe that different little gadgets are equal to intelligence or advancement?  people of 100 years ago were much more rounded than any person you could pluck off the streets today.  how about pitting a renaissance man against a man of today?  the difference would be that a renaissance man's computer would be his mind, and a man of today would simply rely upon technology to even be able to compete.

technology does not equal advancement.  we are failing to evolve our humanity and that is what troubles me about your theory.

then again, we all have our own opinions  tongue.gif

if there was a meteor,
adrift amongst space,
set about on a collision course
not with Earth, but my face...
i wonder if id even know,
at what time i might,
be passed off like an old style
and by the meteor be smite?
