user posted image rA photograph, which has captured a dark figure taken in the foreboding underground Crypt at Oxford Castle Unlocked, has revealed the paranormal does exist and confirms beliefs that the Castle is haunted. The photograph was taken on Friday 16 May by a member of the public at a ghost hunt organised by Fright Nights, the UK's leading ghost hunt specialist.

The brave ghost hunter, who was alone in the Crypt at the time, took the photograph with his digital camera.

"Dark Figure"? I see a nice medieval archway - but no dark figure in this photo...

I agree. I tried opening the picture, thinking there would be a close-up of the aparition. I see nothing.

This is how it works:

If a person believes in spirits/ghosts and really wants to see one, he is likely, at some point to witness that supernatural phenomenon of his preference.

If a person does not believe in said phenomenon and has no belief that he shall witness a thing pertaining to that mystery he will, in all likelihood, never see a shred of evidence concerning their existence.

Research into these questions appears very largely to depend on the 'faith' of the enquirer's thought/spirit process, that is why both sides remain unreconciled - because they literally are both correct by their own terms.

It looks like the photographers shadow, and yes a crafty advertisment for frightnights.

a photograph alone will never be able to 'prove' anything. There will always be suspicion of misidentification at best or hoax at worst by people who weren't there.

Reminds me of the dark figures on ghost hunters in the brewery and the lighthouse.

strange indeed, but if it were the photographers' shadow, keep in mind that the flash would have corrupted the image and/or eliminated it.

What? You can clearly see a outline of a figure right in the middle of the photo under the arch.

Well, this is really freaking...
For those who know Photoshop Shadow highlight feature, knows what I have done.
For those who don’t, shadow highlight let you adjust the shadow and highlights of the image.

In this image, I just opened it on the photoshop CS3 and removed the shadows of the image. Anyone can do this at home. You will get the dark figure at the center of the hallway.

The program does not consider it as shadow, thus not altering its appearance. It is bloody creepy. See below:

But would the flash just hit the walls to the entrance and bounce back? The figure does look like its actually in the middle of the walkway, not a shadow up against the back wall, well I hope it is a manifestation, I am open minded.

The outline of the figure is too perfect for that.
