There are a number of movies that you can watch where people are decapitated, sliced open, shot a few hundred times and a whole lot more. Slow motion, multiple angles and every trick of the trade.
Did this movie exploit the suffering of Christ.
Not really. It showed what at that time, was considered 'normal' punishment for offenders in the Roman empire. It is graphic to say the least. But it is correct to the amount of damage that would have been done to a human body using the tools that are depicted in the movie.
I find the amount rather low, as I thought it was opening in more theaters.
If you have a belief in Christ I suggest you see it.
If not then you can save your cash.
