BUCKETHEAD!!!

Amen... Buckethead is the second greatest guitarist ever. I knew when I read the title of this thread he would pop up. I am surprised, however, that the world all tme geatest guitarist wasn't posted here prior to my post. The worlds greatest guitarist is as pictured on my avatar. WES BORLAND! That was a giant no-brainer. ANyone ever hear of his BIGdumbFACE band? Simply the greatest stuff ever.

I would have to say that Flea is a close second to Les Claypool.

Once again, I agree. Les is the greatest bass player of all time. Primus is one of my favorite bands. He is just the best, end of story. I gotta saythough, the bassist for MuDvAyNe is really exellent and will knock your face off.

I just noticed this: Joe Satriani isn't on here. He is very good, and he taught Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett. And now that I've done some good research, I can say that Michael Angelo Batio is the best guitarist. I saw a video of him doing his song, "No Boundaries", and it was amazing. And people like to point out that Hendrix played a right-handed guitar when he was left handed. Well Batio plays a double guitar. Not like the kind Page is know for, but one that is side to side, so that he plays both of them at the same time. He also had a Quad-guitar (four guitars in one), but is was stolen from him after his second show in El Paso, Texas.

This is his site, with a picture of the Quad-guitar.

For the last time, no means yes.

Sometimes I think I've gone too far. Then I turn on the T.V.

Some people say that the glass is half empty. Some people say that the glass is half full. I say that the glass is twice as big as it is supposed to be.

I got this awesome tickets, and all it cost me was 20% of my brain function. Life is greaawwwaaaaa........aaaaaaa. - Homer

It's no secret that Fender makes great guitar amps, but which one is the best? We think it's the Blues Junior. Find out why.

I think it is Jimi Hendrix. Others that I think are good are Duane Allman, Zakk Wylde, Jimmy Page, Slash, Angus Young, and Kirk Hammond.

Dont you mean Kirk Hammett of metallica instead of Kirk Hammond? I believe that this is a matter of opinion and that all of these above should be considered "the best of the best" and nothing more. All of the styles are different which stops comparrisons from being valid. They all are the best guitar players of all time ... Kirk Hammett is just better at kicking ass than the rest wink2.gif by the way NEW METALLICA ALBUM IN SEPTEMBER!!!!

ooooo...this is a real can of worms!

If you're talking technique you gotta be sayin Satriani/Vai/Malsteem/Eric Johnson/Hammet/EVH/Bert Jansch/Andy McKee/Tommy Emmanuel (doubt anyones heard of this guy, find the dude on youtube he is by far the most gifted guy I've ever seen with a guitar but most of his music sucks, to hillbilly for me)

If your talking feeling/passion look no further than Peter Green/Hendrix/Gilmour/Robert Johnson/Kelly Joe Phelps.

My own personal favorite though has to be this guy...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSnUwA6c67k

lol! I agreed Billy, good point.
IMO great guitarists not only play it from the heart & soul but do with plenty raw guts.eg; like Joey Satch

Id definately say Dave from the iconic British Group "Chas & Dave" was a much under rated guitarist!

His Chord progression technique was quite astonishing...specially on their classic track, Down in Margate
