this is just a personal theory that i have about an upcoming event with smallpox.  i read an article the other day that stated 500,000 US military would be the first to get smallpox vaccinations.  i have also read several reports about the plan to 'vaccinate every american' at the first sign of a smallpox outbreak.  there is an awful lot of talk about terrorist's possibly using smallpox on the US- as if they didn't realize it may be a death sentence for themselves and their countries.

here is my theory:  smallpox will be unleashed in the near future.  i don't know where, but it will be under the guise of a terrorist attack.  if you believe the US government will vaccinate every american against smallpox, i have a nice plot of landfill i would like to sell you.  i believe the government plans to vaccinate only certain people, and let the rest of us die off.  i believe that there is a corrupt element of our government that is behind this event, and the reason the military will have first vaccinations is to enforce martial law when it occurs.

why would i think this could possibly happen?  i believe the US is moving away from democracy and presently the signs are all around us.  i foresee the possibility of this country becoming a modern day Third Reich.   the way that the last election was seized scares me and i believe the same forces that took that power are unwilling to relinquish it.  just the fact that in a country of 350 million people the president is the son of a former president scares the crap out of me.  those odds alone prove that corruption exists at the highest levels.  add the new powers granted to law enforcement since 9/11 and you have a very evil mix.

smallpox will travel the globe again.  vaccine is in very small supply and is mostly in the developed world.  it could drastically alter the present population and power distribution of the world.

i hope im wrong, but let's just see how this plays out in the next year or so.  even vaccinating the military has the possibility of starting a deadly world wide epidemic.

Dswartz  I actually thought that  small pox vacination became mandatory for the military after the gulf war.
Because  it was proven that Saddam had been working on germs particularly small pox  for germ warfare .
Do keepyour eye on this one it could be very interesting.

no, smallpox vaccine is not given because it can infect others that are not vaccinated against it-  even through skin to skin contact with a family member.  smallpox has been eradicated from the earth, only a few governments even have vaccine for it now.  the fact is that the vaccine is very dangerous to give and could cause an outbreak without a terrorist attack.

QUOTE
Dr. Carlos del Rio, an infectious disease specialist at Emory University in Atlanta, is among the skeptics.  "I would really worry about vaccinating people and having to live with the consequences of vaccination and the complications of vaccinations," he said.

Del Rio adds it's not just the vaccinated person who's at risk. Anyone who touches the site on a recently vaccinated person's skin could also get sick.

"I can tell you that, you know, somebody's patch is going to fall off. And something is going to happen," said del Rio.

now Bush is going to start the plan in action.  notice the changes in who will get the vaccinations and who will now be "ineligible" for vaccine.  they never brought this up before now, hmm...  i am especially weary of the way normal people can get the vaccine- through clinical trials.  wow, we all know those are so accessible to the general public.  that will help you sleep better at night.

OOH a whole 10,000 doses, well that will just about cover the top brass of the military, then.

heres a better idea, why not just immunise everyone else and then let all the military guys get killed, no-one to fight a war then, meaning that there would be no more wars.      biggrin.gif

either way lots of people get killed.

True Al. It's not a big country , but I'm sure there are more than 10,000 military personel . I don't think it will be given to the top brass though  ph34r.gif
smile.gif We have about that many S.A.S. troups though , I guess she could send them in keep America happy and try to hide it from the general public . ph34r.gif
What really makes me think though is ........Why are the military so sure that Sadams choice of biological weapon is going to be smallpox?

I can just imagine that everyone will get immunised on smallpox and then he drops anthrax on us instead.

But, how does the smallpox vaccine immunise us, do we have to catch a small bit of it for us to become immune to it, a bit like flu or do we just become immune, if people go around with a weak version of the smallpox virus in them, sre they not going to infect the mass population with it?

Surely that would wipe out a lot of people in itself?

Here's a good article on why not to take the small pox vaccine.

20 Reasons not to take the SmallPox Vaccine

Quote from article:
"For each million people vaccinated with the smallpox vaccine, as many as 250 could die, according to the American Medical Association. Multiply 250 times 285 (millions of Americans) and the possible deaths from universal smallpox vaccination could equal 71,250. ~ Journal of the American Medical Association, June 9, 1999, Vol. 281, No. 22, p. 2132."

the way vaccines work is by giving you a modified version of smallpox to grant your body experience with dealing with the infection.  in the old days, they would simply give you a cow version of smallpox.  they discovered the vaccine through milkmaids who would develop rashes when in contact with cows and then have an immunity to smallpox(or at least something like this if my memory serves correct).  your body is infected with an artificial type of smallpox and you then have an immunity to the real smallpox.

of course i could be totally off the mark as im not a doctor and this is just what i recall from a biology class i took at 6am a couple days a week... did i mention i don't drink coffee?  smile.gif
