Seems to be quite a huge slip up on his behalf... How and why should we ignore it?
Unless you're contending that Barack Obama is a Muslim, it is completely irrelevant. And that's why you should ignore it. Otherwise, you're only spreading confusion and lies. Particularly when he corrected himself immediately. What kind of psychotic level of perfection do you expect form a guy who's been interviewed morning, noon and night for 18 months?
On the other hand, all of McCain's many flubs and errors in geography, etc. are only problematic because a.) he was
totally unaware that he made them and b.) most of them were
repeated several times over the course of weeks. If he'd said, "...Czechelslovakia--I'm sorry, I mean the Czech Republic..." or if he'd said, "the border between Iraq and Afghani--pardon, I mean the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan..." and if he didn't say Iran was training Al Qaeda, over and over and over and over and over again; if he hadn't repeatedly demonstrated such a miserable grasp of the facts, then of course, making a big deal out of such mere slips of the tongue would be irrelevant. They would have obviously been slips of the tongue, nothing more, just as this comment of Obama's obviously is.
Of course, if you are contending that Barack Obama is a Muslim, then, y'know...you're a...acting foolishly, shall we say? And reasonable people would be wise to ignore
you.
