no.  2 senators from each state represent well.

Exactly. Same number of representatives, for Alaska, as California. It protects all fifty states. In the congress it is simply based on population. If we didn't have both houses, small states would be ignored. The same reason we need the electoral college.

but those small states are ignored now as well.

And that is with the electoral college. It would be much worse without it. The senate and electoral college are needed to prevent mob rule. Just like we need laws protecting minorities from majorities. I mean right now gays can't get married because most Americans are opposed to it. However gay's rights should be protected by law. It's the same thing here. We have to prevent mob rule. As Thomas Jefferson said, pure democracy is nothing more than 51% oppressing 49%.
