What's your favourite lyric from a song. Doesn't have to be profound or something only a genius can truely understand. Just a line or two of a song you always enjoy hearing.

I have a few,

The Queen is Dead by The Smiths

So I broke into the Palace,
With a sponge and a rusty spanner,
She said, Eh I know you and cannot sing,
I said that's nothing you should hear me play piano

In the Land of Grey and Pink by Caravan

In the land of grey and pink where only boy-scouts stop to think,
They'll be coming back again, those nasty grumbly grimblies

Time by Pink Floyd

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the english way,
The time is gone, the song is over, thought Id something more to say

And one which always makes me laugh,

I've Got Two Legs by Monty Python

I've got two legs from my hips to the ground,
And when I move them they walk around,
When I lift them they climb the stairs,
And when I shave them they ain't got hairs

"Walk A Mile In My Shoes" by Joe South

~~There are people on reservations and out in the ghettos
And brother there but for the grace of God go you and I
If I only had the wings of a little angel
Don't you know I'd fly to the top of the mountain, and then I'd cry.
Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
And before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes.~~

Soundgarden "4th of July"

Shower in the dark day,
clean sparks diving down.
Cool in the waterway,
where the baptized drown.

Naked in the cold sun,
breathing life like fire.
I thought I was the only one,
but that was just a lie.

REM
Swan Swan H lyrics
(Berry/Buck/Mills/Stipe)

Swan, swan, hummingbird
Hurrah, we are all free now
What noisy cats are we
Girl and dog he bore his cross
Swan, swan, hummingbird
Hurrah, we are all free now
A long, low time ago, people talk to me

Johnny Reb, what's the price of fans
Forty a piece or three for one dollar?
Hey captain, don't you want to buy
Some bone chains and toothpicks?

Night wings, her hair chains,
Here's your wooden greenback, sing
Wooden beams and dovetail sweep
I struck that picture ninety times,
I walked that path a hundred ninety,
Long, low time ago, people talk to me

A pistol hot cup of rhyme
The whiskey is water, the water is wine
Marching feet, Johnny Reb, what's the price of heroes?

Six in one, half dozen the other,
Tell that to the captain's mother,
Hey captain, don't you want to buy,
Some bone chains and toothpicks?

Night wings, her hair chains
Swan, swan, hummingbird
Hurrah, we are all free now
What noisy cats are we
Long, low time ago, people talk to me
A pistol hot cup of rhyme,
The whiskey is water, the water is wine

Swan, Swan H

TOOL
Wings for Marie (Pt 2)

Listen to the tales and romanticize,
How we'd follow the path of the hero.
Boast about the day when the rivers overrun.
How we rise to the height of our halo.

Listen to the tales as we all rationalize
Our way into the arms of the savior,
Feigning all the trials and the tribulations;
None of us have actually been there.
Not like you.

Ignorant siblings in the congregation
Gather around spewing sympathy,
Spare me.
None of them can even hold a candle up to you.
Blinded by choice, these hypocrites won't see.

But, enough about the collective Judas.
Who could deny you were the one who
Illuminated your little piece of the divine?

And this little light of mine, a gift you passed on to me;
I'm gonna let it shine to guide you safely on your way,
Your way home ...

Oh, what are they going to do when the lights go down
Without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are they going to do when the rivers overrun
Other than tremble incessantly?

High is the way, but all eyes are upon the ground.
You were the light and the way they'll only read about.
I only pray, Heaven knows when to lift you out.
Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough;
You're going home.

You're the only one who can hold your head up high,
Shake your fists at the gates saying:
"I've come home now!
Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father.
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.
It's time now!
My time now!
Give me my, give me my wings!"

You are the light and way that they will only read about.

Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance,
(With the) burden of proof tossed upon the believers.
You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence,
Judith Marie, unconditional one.

Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescents.
Difficult to see you in this light.
Please forgive this bold suggestion, but
Should you see your Maker's face tonight,
Look Him in the eye, look Him in the eye, and tell Him:
"I never lived a lie, never took a life, but surely saved one.
Hallelujah, it's time for you to bring me home."

Come hear the moon is calling,
The witching hour draws near,
Come hear the bell is tolling,
Mortals run in fear,
Hold fast the sacrafice,
Prepare the altar now and hear the virgin cry,
All hell breaks loose,
For now it's the time to die,

Unveil the pentagram,
Hell's breaking loose.
Come watch the holy men,
And feel the heat of satan's breath,
And feel the demons lust,
Come taste blood,
Who look on in disgust,
Look in the sky's and see,
The warriors of death,
All hell breaks loose,

Hell's breaking loose,
Our work is now complete,
Witching hour.
The blood runs fast and free,
And satan takes his bride,
And cry's of blasphemy,
All hell rejoices at the child,
That she will bear,
And satans only son,
Shall be the worlds despair,
All hell breaks loose,
Hell's breaking loose,
Witching hour

I don't mean to dwell
But I can't help myself
When I feel the vibe
And taste a memory
Of a time in life
When years seemed to stand still

I close my eyes
And sink within myself
Relive the gift of precious memories
In need of a fix called innocence

When did it begin?
The change to come was undetectable
The open wounds expose the importance of
Our innocence
A high that can never be bought or sold

Symbolic acts - so vivid
Yet at the same time
Were invisible

Savor what you feel and what you see
Things that may not seem important now
But may be tomorrow

Do you remember when
Things seemed so eternal?
Heroes were so real...
Their magic frozen in time
The only way to learn
Is be aware and hold on tight

I close my eyes
And sink within myself
Relive the gift of precious memories
In need of a fix called innocence

When did it begin?
The change to come was undetectable
The open wounds expose the importance of
Our innocence
A high that can never be bought or sold
'dance with the dead in my dreams...'

Boris the Spider.

... that is all.
Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill. Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt. Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench. Care about people's approval and you will be their prisoner.

Do your work, then step back. The only path to
serenity.

Poison Cup by M. Ward:
She said if love,
if love,
is a poison cup... then drink it up.
'Cause a sip,
a sip,
or a spoonful won't do. Won't do nothin' for you,
...except mess you up.

Oxford Comma by Vampire Weekend:
Why would you lie 'bout how much coal you have? Why would you lie about something dumb like that?
Why would you lie 'bout anything at all? First the window, then it's to the wall.
Lil' Jon he always tells the truth.

The Breeze by Dr. Dog:
Is it a dream, keeping you awake?
Is it the stillness that makes you shake?
If you need to know for sure... whats on the ocean's floor. Then sing.
Do you like things, the way they seem?
Or are you lookin' behind the scenes.
Well if you got to know... what it takes to make it so. Just believe.
Are there dark parts,
to your mind?
Hidden secrets,
left behind.
Where no one ever goes, but everybody knows. It's alright.

First Sight by These United States:
With her mouth making movements, to introduce thoughts,
I sat, deafened by trust- on that sofa across.
Quietly calculating, the logistics of lust,
...of when unspoken things couldn't happen between us.
And once all those were done and we got through love,
we would shoot from the hip- reacting off of the cuff.
Splitting up at the fork when the going got rough, with a plan- for a point- to rejoin on the road further up.
All windows thin where the ice carved its' flowers,
I would hold her. Let the wind beat back those hours.
Then standing on subway trains clutching her dress, dependant, on her balance since-the-walls-were-useless.
And while it's alright to hold tight, please don't try to hold on. 'Cause its a homerun hit- love, 'cause it's going and gone.
But then the world turns so fast it was astoundingly still,
and it must've been that moment made of midnight on the hill.

24 hours later.....

OK so here are a few...

Near to you by: A Fine Frenzy

Near to you, I am healing
But it's taking so long
'Cause though he's gone
And you are wonderful
It's hard to move on
Yet, I'm better near to you.

You and I have something different
And I'm enjoying it cautiously
I'm battle scarred, I am working oh so hard
To get back to who I used to be

He's disappearing
Fading steadily
I'm so close to being yours
Won't you stay with me

Between the Lines by: Sara Barailles

My memory is cruel
Im queen of attention to details
Defending intentions if he fails
Until now, he told me her name
It sounded familiar in a way
I could have sworn i'd heard him say it ten thousand times
If only i had been listening

Leave unsaid unspoken
Eyes wide shut unopened
You and me
Always between the lines
Between the lines

Gravity by: Sara Barailles

Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do I'll still feel you here 'til the moment I'm gone.

You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much than to drown in your love and not feel your reign.

Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.

I Know Him By Heart by: Vonda Shepard

There's a secret path I follow
To a place no one can find
Where I meet my perfect someone
I've kept hidden in my mind
Where my heart makes my decisions
'Till my dream becomes a vision
And the love I feel
Makes him real someday

'Cause I know he's out there somewhere
Just beyond my reach
Though I've never really touched him
Or ever heard him speak
Though we've never been together
We've never been apart
No we've never met
Haven't found him yet
But I know him by heart

Am I living in an illusion?
Wanting something I can't see
If I compromise, I'd be living lies
Pretending love's not meant to be
'Cause I know my heart's worth saving
And I know that he'll be waiting
So I'll hold on and I'll stay strong 'till then

No we've never met
Haven't found him yet
But I know him by heart
No we've never met
Haven't found him yet
But I know him by heart

Counting to 100 By: Matt Wertz

So you go hide
And I'll come seek
Maybe someday in the middle
We just might meet
because I'm counting to a hundred
And I promise I won't peek
As you go hide
And I come seek

How much longer will this game go on
I guess summer time will tell
Cause I hate to hear that you're all alone
Overlooked in search of someone else

It's kind of funny; as a general rule my least favorite music is country music and I really am not a fan of sappy love songs in general either.

However, two of my favorite songs are pretty much epic love songs and one could arguably be called a country song LOL

Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, Crosby, Still, and Nash (plain text lyrics)

(YouTube Video)

... Chestnut brown canary
Ruby throated sparrow
Sing a song, don't be long
Thrill me to the marrow

Voices of the angels
Ring around the moonlight
Asking me, said she so free
How can you catch the sparrow

Lacy lilting lyric
Losing love lamenting
Change my life, make it right
Be my lady

And, for some odd reason I've always adored this epic love song as well: LOL

El Paso, Marty Robbins (full lyrics from Marty Robbins' Web site)

(YouTube Video)
...

So in anger
I challenged his right for the love of this maiden
Down went his hand for the gun that he wore
My challenge was answered in less than a heartbeat
The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor

Just for a moment I stood there in silence
Shocked by the foul, evil deed I had done
Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there
I had but one chance and that was to run

Out through the back door of Rosa's I ran
Out where the horses were tied
I caught a good one, it looked like it could run
Up on its back and away I did ride Just as fast as
I could from the West Texas town of El Paso
Out to the badlands of New Mexico ....

Alice in Chains "Angry Chair" great song. thumbsup.gif

Sitting on an angry chair
Angry walls that steal the air
Stomach hurts and I dont care

What do I see across the way
See myself molded in clay
Stares at me, yeah Im afraid
Changing the shape of his face

Candles red I have a pair
Shadows dancing everywhere
Burning on the angry chair

Little boy made a mistake
Pink cloud has now turned to gray
All that I want is to play
Get on your knees, time to pray, boy

I dont mind, yeah
I dont mind, i-i-i
I dont mind, yeah,
I dont mind, i-i-i
Lost my mind, yeah
But I dont mind, i-i-i
Cant find it anywhere
I dont mind

Corporate prison, we stay
Im a dull boy, work all da y
So Im strung out anyway

Loneliness is not a phase
Field of pain is where I graze <---- I like this image for some reason cool.gif
Serenity is far away

Saw my reflection and cried
So little hope that I died
Feed me your lies, open wide
Weight of my heart, not the size

Pink cloud has now turned to gray
All that I want is to play
Get on your knees time to pray
