The existence of sasquatch has been proven.

Did anyone watch the History Channel documentary series "Monster Quest", Episode "Sasaquatch attack" ?

I watched it and they claimed to have a blood sample that is a hybrid of primate dna and human dna.

Does it proves the existence of sasquatch?

The History Channel may have discovered the missing link.

In its new show “MonsterQuest,” an adventurous group braved the wilderness to see if “Big Foot” actually lives in Ontario, Canada.

Scientists Kurt Nelson and Jeff Meldrum spent five days with a video and audio crew at a cabin in the utterly remote Snelgrove Lake, pulling DNA samples from the trap and exploring the forest.

The show has caused a stir among enthusiasts because it has gotten so close to proving the Sasquatch monster may, in fact, exist.

The show made “contact” with the thing on its last night of filming.

“A stone was thrown at about 2 a.m.,” executive producer Doug Hajibeck [sic ~ should be Hajicek] told The Post. “That stone hit like a bullet. It was thrown with amazing accuracy.”

The crew threw a stone back and, in a matter of minutes, a second stone was launched at them.

“I was really scared, and I felt the adrenaline,” said Hajibeck. “When we threw that rock into the woods and then it got sent back, my heart raced.”

Blood, tissue and hair discovered later on a bear trap outside the cabin was tested.

The hair did not match any known North American bear or animal and tests showed an uncanny similarity to human DNA with one exception: the irregular DNA matched that of a primate.

“It is a show that presents and analyzes the evidence,” said executive producer Mike Stiller. “But, ultimately, it’s up the viewers.”

I didn't see that exact show but, here is what I think of the Big Foot thing. Every since the film came out showing that one walking across the stream, people have been claiming that these guys are every where. Now, they might actually exist out in the mountains of China or up in the Great North West but, I doubt that, if they do exist, they are any where near as wide spread as many claim.

I ama big fan of HIstory Channel as well but, I thin k that if they would have found proof of something as widely wondered about as Big Foot, CNN and FOX News would hav covered it.

Have they supplied their research reports? If so, then where have they published the nucleotide sequence of the DNA that they investigated? Is the sample still available for research by independent laboratoriums? If any of these three questions are answered in the negative, then the existence of this particular sasquatch remains unproven.

Only Dr. Nelson said he found primate DNA on behalf of MQ. Two other DNA specialists proved him wrong.

As for the hair, you really can't call it evidence if the person who made the claim refuses to let anyone else access to it.

You need to watch this youtube video. It will show that everthing about Snelgrove is a steaming pile of manure.

Bigfoot has always been a big cryptid thing-- no doubt of that but geez for the past three weeks he's been EVERYEWHERE. There's even been asighting of him here in TX. What sparked off this sudden bigfoot hysteria? Is it because we're getting close to proving he is real? Possibly...I need to do more research so I can provide a link to this but while on a friends computer yesterday I saw an article where scientists have discovered over 100 new species in one area and some thought to be extinct. I don't know about you but that screams to me BIGFOOT IS POSSIBLE!!! Perhaps not as widespread as we would like but-- possible.

You make a valid point Wolf. I would like to think that Bigfoot is possible. There have been many findings of hairs and such, that haven't quite yet been pin pointed to a specific species.. I remember 2 years ago, there was a huuge finding of a bed down area in the trunk of a tree up in some remote mountain, that could only be reached by escort of a very hard to understand Tribe of people. When they finally got to this bed down area, they found hair samples and bones... The bones, belonged to a dead rabit of some sort, or ... may not have been a rabit, but it was some dead carcass. Anyway, they tested the hair, and it seemed to have primate like dna sequences or w/e, but they had absolutely no match at all in the databases.. So, they of course, either came across an unknown species of primate, or ... what they said, was BIGFOOt.... so..

Like i said, i would like to believe in it.... but till it's proven....you know.. :)

It's just dissapointing that they're not spending more time in the field. 5 days, and they get some rocks thrown at them? Couldn't it just be some local kid who discovered them after 4 days and decided to mess with them? I mean, come on, we're gonna say Bigfoot exists from a rock being thrown? I saw this episode, I'm pretty sure, unless they've done more than one episode running around in night vision and having rocks thrown at them. "OMG you guys! A rock! AHHHH!" It's ******ed.

I'd like to believe that Bigfoot exists because something living in the forest like that is going to be hard to find for sure. The bodies of dead animals would be lying around on the forest floor all over the pacific Northwest if mother nature wasn't taking care of it, so don't even try to say that we should have found a body by now. This show is a joke.

I think every skeptic would love to be proven wrong by the discovery of an actual specimen. Many times, the conflict only arises when true believers claim that the evidence for BF's existence is already available. It isn't. Strange footprints, strange crap, strange hair, strange sightings, etc., are not conclusive evidence for the existence of a creature that otherwise seems to break many, many laws of nature and probability. Inconclusive results on samples determined to be "unknown" are just that, unknown. There is no way to know if it's BF, or something else, and it's intellectually irresponsible to make conclusions based on such vague results.

I would be ecstatic if BF walked out of the forest and was captured, but I'm not holding my breath. Based on all the evidence currently available, the only reasonable conclusion that can be drawn about BF is that it's very unlikely that he is a real creature, though his stories are interesting and capture the imagination.

i would love for something like that to exist. how fun would it be if an giant cousin of ours roams the forests! :P

I would gladly eat a huge helping of crow with a side order of foot in my mouth if this happened.

I'd Like to beilieve its true, but random rocks flying out of the woods could be anything.

Maybe some kid was screwing around with them.

This seems to be likely. :D

Seriously this has all been covered in the other MonsterQuest - Bigfoot thread.

I love how skeptics are like, "I don't believe that Bigfoot exists." Then they say things like, "If I found a set of tracks, of course I would follow them." Also, that they would quickly get a rifle and hunting dogs. Why?? If it does not exist then they are wasting their time. If they do follow the tracks then aren't they being a hippocrit and looking for something they said absolutely does not... can not exist?

I just find it funny. :D

I don't find it too funny. Skeptics usually don't believe because they look at the facts, the evidence at hand and make a logical decision. I personally don't believe in Bigfoot, but if I found some tracks that couldn't easily be explained, out of curiosity I would follow them. Who knows, what I find might be the very thing I don't believe in. Cause we don't believe it exists doesn't mean we aren't as curious as the believers.

I renew my pledge:

The day real sasquatch specimen is found, I will get a tattoo of bigfoot wrestling the skunk ape tattooed on my back.

Oh yeah, I'd always wanted to know if there is anything to the sasquatch saga, you know the missing link in evolution and all the science and discovery that could entail, but what I'm sure the community rests assured knowing that you are willing to tattoo yourself. I mean that really raises the stakes....

:hmm:

There are no stakes, that's the point. There is no chance that there is a 600 lb ape living in north america undetected. Science already knows this and isn't looking for any "misisng link" in the woods. There isn't a "misisng link" anyway, we already are relatively sure of our human evolutionary chain.

Well, I do tend to agree....the chance is little to none.

BUT (there always is a but...) I just can't totally discount the eyewitness testimonies. Even disregarding a huge percent of those, there are still some credible, detailed accounts. What the hell are they seeing? To me that is the only compelling piece of evidence that keeps me thinking there could be something. My logical side dictates that it is impossible....but (yet more buts) I just can't dismiss it completely.

Hm, ok. That's your choice. But you should take a look at the eyewitness accounts with a thoroughly critical eye. It will shed some light on them, I think.

I think the elusive "Bigfoot" is probably one of the more credible cryptids out there, just from a common sense standpoint.

Plus, I'm pretty sure there were a few lurking around Harrison when I went there last summer.

I completely disagree. What makes bf "credible?"

That depends entirely on what you're comparing it to. If you're comparing it to dragons, bigfoot might seem more possible. However, possiblity doesn't equal existence, and while I enjoy the bigfoot stories as much as anyone, I also realize that there is no real, conclusive evidence supporting its existence.

Obviously, they've been in a rush to finish their christmas shopping. Bigfeet are notorious procrastinators.

On a serious note. . .I hate bigfoot. . .I don't really care if he exists. I don't even care enough to know whether or not I believe its possible. . . However, I will say that. . .on the eyewitness side. . . I believe there are some people that truly believe they've seen one. Sometimes I find it hard to accept the "mistaken identity" theory. . .Especially if its someone that is well aware of the animals in their area. Of course, EVERYONE can be fooled, but still.

I agree. If I found something out of the ordinary, I'd go into ninja mode and track it down until I figured out what it was. I'd do that regardless of what it could be. My curiosity is insatiable. . .it'd be hard NOT to try and track it down.
