Further testimony from Colares involving UFOs and USOs.

Quote

Fishermen:

A Colares fishermen also saw UFOs coming in and out from the waters of the Marajó bay. Sometimes, they could see their bluish light moving under the water. “Once, I was sleeping when the sergeants - members of the operation - told me they took a photograph of a flying saucer diving into the water close to a boat. I went to the beach and waited for the fisherman. When he came back he told me what happened. He was terrified. Several weeks later I saw a light close to a fishing-boat. It was blue and surrounded the boat once or twice, by 300 meters, then it dived into the water. There wasn't any sound. It was like a blade passing through the water”, said the captain.

Priest witnessed object appearing:

The priest Alfredo de La Ó, responsible for the Colares church at that time and already dead, was also heard by the military. One of his stories: one night when he was driving he saw a bright object cone-shaped far away. It was at 100 meters of altitude more or less and coming down. it seemed it was landing. “I stopped and came out of the car to see it better. It's lights were green, red and yellow and turned on and off clockwise. It was swaying but, suddenly, the lights became stronger and it went up. It disappeared and did not land”, said the priest.

At two o'clock in the morning of November 27th, 1977, the Air Force agents were paying attention to three bright objects, with different sizes, on a place called Ponta do Machadinho. Apparently they were landed at a distance of 3.000 meters from them. Suddenly, the smaller object came closer to the bigger one. Few seconds later, it flew northeast, towards Belém. The other two stayed for some seconds more and then rised up fast, disappearing while taking different ways.

Another five bright objects could be seen in November 28th at 5000 meters, over the city of Colares. After some time, they came closer to a bigger one. They had yellow, red and green lights. One object left the others and started to emit a strong blue light against a place called Ponta do Bacuri. Later, they came together again and left towards Baía do Sol, Mosqueiro, at high speed. A fisherman, terrified, reported to the military the sighting of a dark UFO reflecting a bluish light. He was then interviewed by a crew of the Brazilian UFO Magazine [www.ufo.com.br].

""During the months of September through December 1977, the Brazillian Air-Force under the command of a Captain Uyrangê Hollanda, was sent to the island of Colares to investigate a series of incidents in which over 80 people reported being attacked by beams of light from UFO's, paralyzing two of them and leaving puncture and burn marks on their skin. The investigation was codenamed "Operation Saucer". This operation collated over 15 hours of film, 500 photos, and hundreds of documents with detailed drawings and interviews with over 3000 witness'. The files were to remain classified by the Brazillian Government until 1997, when UFO investigator's A J Gevaerd and Marco Petite of UFO Magazine were allowed partial access. They were also contacted by the then retired Cpt Hollanda who gave them a vivid recollection of the whole series of events.""

Karl, you are a great asset!! Posted Image

I find that South and Central America are historical hotspots. The area off Puerto Rico and up to the Bermuda area, are intriquing areas as well.

SkyEagle, thanks for the kind words and I completely agree about Central and South America having a long history of unexplained UFO incidents - they take a while to go through but if you've not seen them before some of Brazil's MOD UFO reports can be found at the link below:

BRAZIL UFO DISCLOSURE REPORTS AND PHOTOS ARE NOW AVAILABLE TO VIEW

Contents of 12 folders disclosed by the Brazilian Ministry of Defense confirm activities of unidentified flying objects in Brazilian territory. Moreover, it shows that Brazilian military authorities have always monitored such activities of other species in the country's environment.

In 1977 the Brazilian island of Colares and the area of the Amazon delta were visited by flying objects of an unknown nature. Nearly all kinds of UFOs were seen, some big, some small, saucer-shaped, cigar-shaped, barrel-shaped, luminous or not. They arrived generally from the North every day, from the sky and also sometimes from underwater, and it lasted for months.

Regularly, some Island inhabitants were targeted by the objects beaming strange lights at them and many were badly hurt. The Air Force came, investigated, saw, reported. The weird rays hurt 35 people, and civilians fled from entire villages.

Very interesting case Karl, I wonder how I had never heard of it. I think those people weren't lying, as there's too much detail and everyone tells the similar stories, not to mention that people were sent to the hospital because of light beams hitting them. Could it be some sort of natural phenomenon?

Hey Lcvec, thanks for the reply - you make some very good points and although I'm at a complete loss to explain what kind of natural phenomenon could have caused all the reported aspects of the case, here's a very interesting interview with Colonel Hollanda who was the main man in charge of 'Operation Saucer':

Fascinating documentary Karl!...And it would be perfect if Colonel Hollander could have provided evidence in the form of copies of the photographs and films that he claims were sent to Brazilia.
Of course, I could well be wrong , but as it is,...Though I am very intrigued by the whole story and the mans interview...
The Colonel did'nt convince me  of his sincerity quite enough for me to accept his claims without further proof.

Cheers Buddy.

Interesting to say the least, I do not seem to be able to find much on the net, can anyone point me at a detailed written description?

Very interesting that the Colonel suicided soon after, I wonder if that aspect has been investigated?

At first glance, I think this is a good candidate for natural phenomena.

I posted about this in 2005, maybe obsolete and silly now but 5 years ago there REALLY wasn't much on the net about Colares! Have fun with that one...

Lost Shaman, that's a great thread you've posted there and I'm sure there wasn't much info out there about this case five years ago - DocLottaLove and Kandinsky have also posted some fascinating material on your thread and, as cases of high strangeness go, this one's certainly up there!

Snippet from thread:

The descriptions of the sightings and the details of the bizzare burns and blood taking are truly strange!

Cheers.

They did take hundreds of pictures of these UFOs, which did seem to be under intelligent control, and Hollandia even reported contact with an ET that left him very disturbed.  I would consider this as evidence of hostile UFOs, especially due to the deaths and injuries that resulted, and the island's residents even called them "flying death machines".  Definitely one of the best documented UFO flaps in history, and one that obviously spooked the military.  It spooks me, too:

Some military officials tried to "explain" this by theorizing that guerillas were responsible or that it was some secret weapon being tested by the US, but I don't think that even comes close to answering what was really going on there.  Local residents had thought for quite some time that there was a UFO base in the region, and that the ETs resented human intrusions in this area, which were increasing in the 1960s and 1970s.

Interestingly, Brazil finally ordered a very advanced radar system from the US to keep the Amazon under observation:

"U.S. awareness of the area further increased in 1994, when the Raytheon corporation (famous for its Patriot missiles employed during the Gulf War) was awarded a $1.4 billion dollar contract to build a radar system. This in itself is hardly surprising, given the company's record of building similar facilities for the U.S. Navy, particularly the highly controversial "over the horizon" system (ROTHR) being deployed on the Puerto Rican island of Vieques. The curious note was that the call for bids had issued from Brazil, which was interested in creating an advanced radar network within Amazonia to be known as SIVAM."
