All time favourite band, The Tragically Hip. Good Canadian boys they are. Sing about beer and hockey. Haven't missed a show in over 10 years! What's my favourite song by them you ask well it's 50 Mission Cap. They are God's Band.

Of course a close second would be the Rolling Stones.

Yes (mostly for their sophisticated 70s phase, and their latest album)

Genesis with Peter Gabriel (tho they did 2 good albums after he left) .. so Genesis with Steve Hackett!

Pink Floyd

The Flower Kings (take everything you like about progressive rock, and you got this)

Opeth (my favorite metal band, very clever songwriting)

Led Zeppelin

there are many more. I listen to many many albums in the 'prog' category and some other genres.

Oh, man I have too many, too! If I had to pick the top bands, though, I'd choose, in alphabetical order:

12 Stones
Apocalyptica
Breaking Benjamin
Disturbed
Evanescence
Flogging Molly
Godsmack
Metallica
Seether
Staind

Edited to add: although, I DO have to add that my ALL-Time favorite band is the one my hubby and his brother started. They were known as Divided Seed. Did they ever rock!

Mine has been Metallica since I was 13. I got my first tattoo about a year ago and it's their ninja star.

Some other faves are The Vandals, Flogging Molly, Oingo Boingo, Elvis Costello, The Misfits, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

It's a tie, really, between Bloc Party and The Blood Brothers. I love the riffs that The Blood Brothers used, but Bloc Party is great in so many ways, too.
