Alright first off I didn't watch the whole show just popped in at the end. Their battle statistics were pretty close anyway. Now the problem is their Viking acted like a rookie and not a true Viking. I may not be an expert on Vikings but come on that was pathetic. First off what Viking would have a shield on his back in a fight and not have a sword ready. Not to mention they didn't even give the Viking his best stuff even in design. His armor was not the best here is a link on some replicas as I wanted to see what the viking ultimate weapon was and you can see some here and the huge difference between what they had and the actual quality. Link That is just one website too. If someone who actually knows Viking stuff would probably be able to tell you that their equipment was not top notch.

Shields are part of armor yet they counted it separate. The Viking Ultimate weapon should have been something like this. Weapon Link.

Ultimately I found it to be poorly researched (the show) and done on the Viking at least. Vikings trained and were not caveman like as a joke that went through on the show. Which ultimatly shows their complete lack of respect for the Viking. Though the Samuria ultimate weapon was awesome no doubt but the Viking didn't have his. Total Rip. Viking should have won or it should have been a tie. Though Viking Vs Space Marine there is no competition there but we all still want to see it anyway. Right Master Chef. (From Eat Lead)

Slight Correction. THe show is called Deadliest Warrior.

Watched that to and overall, ya I think your right. They gave to much credit to speed than power, however both are required. The Viking weapons did way more damage and in a rush of battle the Vikings had it. The Samurai however, if ready and prepared they could do it forsure. Good episode.

Interesting show. But I feel they leave out things. Shock value for one. Last weeks was another that didn't make sense. The apache won. All in all a time killer.

I didn't get to see it,due to being at work all night.

I wanted to watch it,even though I figured it was going to leave out a lot of factors from the fight...making it a ridiculous mess.

As for the Viking weapons and armor,a shield was an integral part of the armor...which every Viking would know how to use not only for defense, but also as a secondary weapon. Too,the Vikings practiced with many weapons, not just one or two. Vikings would not be accepted into the true warrior class until they had learned and mastered each of the weapons that the culture used.

Kevin,I'd say that the ultimate Viking weapon was the long-handled Axe (Dane-Axe). The Halberd didn't come into prominent use until the 14th/15th century, although it developed from the earlier long-handled Axe. The weapon you posted a link to is more similar to a Glaive than a Halberd (I never did like Museum Replica's "info" on weapons,as they tend to be a bit off-the-mark on some of them).

If you'd like to learn more about the Vikings,I'd suggest looking here for a start: http://www.regia.org/

This is a large Viking group with very knowledgeable people within it's ranks.

Agree that the Viking should have won. Though do like that they killed the katana crap.

Next week is Spartan vs Ninja...seriously? Should be an easy win for the ninja. Think they should have done the match ups better.

Ya but having a ninja vs Samurai would be to similar and not extreme enough or as entertaining and fancifull. I'v seen the mythbusters do the ninja angle and I wouldn't count the spartin out to early next week.

Everybody knows that shields are used to deflect attacks, not block them. Also, the axe is one of the most versatile close quarters weapons ever made. People tend to forget that the back of the axe can be used like a hammer, or that the hook of the axe can be used to pull an opponent off balance or hook the back of the leg and topple them. All in all I don't think they represented the viking very accurately, but that's just my opinion.

I thought that to as the only thing really going for the Samurai was the bow and arrow and they didn't take into account the Vikings shield disgust.gif

the problem with this show is that its a one on one duel. it doesnt take into account the fighting style. Ninja loses because of this. Viking loses because of this. Vikings were raiders. Surprise all the way!
